Betty A. Platt
Betty A. Platt, 86, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Hospitality Hall, Batesville. She was born May 30, 1919 in Milan, the daughter of Dr. Arthur and Freda Fleming Whitlatch, both deceased. She married Edwin Platt and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include son David and wife Jeanne Platt of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Diane and husband Dale Bockhorst of Centerville, OH; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Platt was a former lab technician for the Milan Clinic and Dearborn County Hospital. She was a member of the Book Club, Chi Phi, International Yours, New Harmony Club and the Milan Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 7 from noon-2:00 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be at Craven Cemetery, Milan.
Memorials may be given to Milan Community Park or Rescue 30.

Cindy Carol Monroe
Cindy Carol Monroe, 42, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005, at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born November 1, 1963, the daughter of Floyd and Audrey Sheldon Emery, both deceased. She married Mark Monroe on July 2, 1983 and he survives.
Survivors also include son Andrew of Rising Sun; daughters Mindy, Amy and Chrissy of Rising Sun; brother Floyd Emery III of Coventry, RI; sisters Mary Kissell of Lawrenceburg; Carrie Bruns of Milan; Barbie Lewis of Versailles; father-in-law and mother-in-law Don Roy and Helen Monroe of Rising Sun; and brothers-in-law David and Daniel Monroe of Rising Sun.
Mrs. Monroe was a 1983 graduate of South Dearborn High School in Aurora. She was a teacher’s aide at Children’s Corner in Rising Sun and a former receptionist for Weight Watchers. Mrs. Monroe also worked as a substitute teacher and aide at the Ohio County Elementary School, and a nurse’s aide at Dearborn County Hospital. She was a member of the Dillsboro United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are today, Thursday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun with Rev. Ted Hamrick and Bro. Don Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.

Clarence Wullenweber
Clarence Wullenweber, 83, of Sunman, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born January 23, 1922 in New Alsace, the son of James and Clara E. Berbrick Wullenweber, both deceased. He married Hazel A. Walter on December 9, 1942 in Hubbells Corner, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Clarence, Jr. and wife Patty of Commiskey; Clayton of Sunman; and Terry and wife Jamie of Sunman; daughters Pauline Sue and husband Don Barnes of Cincinnati, OH; and Kathy and husband Danny Hanavan of North Bend, OH; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Rozella Herbert and brothers Jimmy, Rolston and Oscar.
Mr. Wullenweber was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was owner of Wullenweber Plastering. Mr. Wullenweber was a life member and past commander of the Sunman American Legion - Kenneth L. Diver Post #337; life member and past commander of the Milan VFW Post #6234; member of the Voiture 40 & 8; former member of the Milan School Board and the Board of Trustees. He created the Lawrenceburg Farmer’s Market.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 28, at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Burial was at the Evangelical Union Cemetery, Hubbells Corner, with graveside military honors.
Memorials may be given to Milan Rescue 30, the Milan VFW Scholarship Fund or the Milan Volunteer Fire Department.

Dale Edwin Gunter
Dale Edwin Gunter, 71, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born October 3, 1934 in Batesville, the son of Vernon and Edna Richter Gunter, both deceased. He married Eilene Hornberger on June 1, 1957, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Gary, Roger “Idy,” and David “Zell” of Batesville; daughter Diane Moore of Batesville; brothers Mervin, Harold Estal and Kendall of Batesville; sisters Velma Belter and LaVonne Huber of Sunman; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Allen and Bobby Jean.
Mr. Gunter was a farmer and owned and operated Dale Gunter Excavating. He was a member of Adams Lutheran Church in Batesville.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 28 at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with Pastor William Powlen officiating. Burial was at Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery.

John F. LaPine
John F. LaPine, 66, of Madison, passed away Monday, December 26, 2005, at University of Cincinnati Hospital, OH. He was born July 21, 1939 in Canaan, the son of William and Iva Mae Richards LaPine, both deceased.
Survivors include his companion of eight years, Sharon Counts of Madison; daughters and sons-in-law Nina and Charles Wayne LaPine of Madison; Jonetta and Rick Tankersley of Madison; and Cari LaPine of Madison; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law Tina and Robbie DeBurger of Hanover; and Cindy and Tommy Amburgey of Scottsburg; sisters Ruth Ann Stuart of Madison; and Francis and husband Roy Covington of Lancaster; brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Dorothy LaPine of Wilmington, OH; Wayne and Donna LaPine of Madison; Jimmy and Ruthie LaPine of Madison; George of Madison; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by sons John and Chad; brother Bill; sisters Mary Tilley, Norma Morris, Dorothy Giesler, Bessie Sevier, Josephine Robertson and Margie LaPine.
Mr. LaPine was a former employee of Joyce Shoe Factory and Shipley’s Tavern. He also worked for Gayle Club Construction and Tower Manufacturing. He was a member of Jefferson Post 9, Sons of the American Legion and the former Madison Eagles Lodge.
Funeral services are today, Thursday, December 29, at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison with Dr. Clyde T. Angel officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison.

Mark Anthony Wolfe
Mark Anthony Wolfe, 29, of Aurora, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1976 in West Virginia, the son of Bill Radcliff and Penny Wolfe and they survive. He married Salina Henderson and she survives.
Survivors also include son Blaise and daughter Dakota.
Mr. Wolfe was a roofer for Kramer & Son and an avid hunter.
Funeral services were Tuesday, December 27, at Filter Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora.

Marie Wietlisbach
Marie Wietlisbach, 93, of Batesville, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born September 7, 1912 in Hamburg, the daughter of Andrew Bedel, Sr., and Frances Lamping Bedel, both deceased. She married Otto Wietlisbach, Sr. on September 21, 1933 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Hamburg and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1972.
Survivors include one daughter, Louise McDonough of Batesville; three sons, Otto Wietlisbach, Jr. of Greensburg, John and Joe Wietlisbach both of Batesville; one sister, Stella Weberding of Batesville; one brother, Lawrence Bedel of Batesville; 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Frances Eddy; three sisters, Marcella Leising, Loretta Nobbe, Edna Redelman; and two brothers, Andrew and George Bedel.
Mr. Wietlisbach was a member of the New Horizon’s Guild and the Swiss Benevolent Association. She was also a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville. She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 22, 4-8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Cemetery.

Clarissa L. Westmeier
Clarissa L. Westmeier, 23, of Versailles passed away Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Columbus on March 31, 1982 the daughter of William and Bennilee Phillips Westmeier.
Survivors include her mother Bennilee Westmeier of North Vernon; her father William Westmeier and his wife Mary of Versailles; one brother Aaron Westmeier of Versailles; paternal grandparents Aaron and Geneva Westmeier of Versailles; maternal grandparents Lee and Wanda Phillips of Versailles; stepbrother Vince Kieffer and stepsister Vanessa Kieffer both of Versailles; her boyfriend Aaron Gorth of Versailles along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Clarissa was a 2000 graduate of South Ripley High School and was a community living instructor for Res Care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.

Mary Margaret Scott Harrell Luckett
Mary Margaret (Scott) Harrell Luckett, 78, of Madison passed away Monday, December 12, 2005 at Columbus Health & Rehab Center, Columbus. She was born March 22, 1927 in Moorefield, the daughter of Frederick and Daisy McKay Scott, both deceased. She married Donald Harrell and he preceded her in death in 1951. She married Donald T. Luckett, and he also preceded her in death July 18, 1999.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Kevin and Linda Harrell of Madison; and Jeffrey Scott and Suzanne Luckett of Madison; son-in-law Ray Arbuckle of Hanover; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by daughter Karen Harrell Arbuckle; grandson Lonnie Arbuckle; brother Fred Scott; sisters Rosamond Hoffman and Carolyn Scott.
Mrs. Luckett was a 1945 graduate of Madison High School. She worked at the Jefferson Proving Ground in the clerical dept., the Madison Bank & Trust Company as a teller, then as office manager for Tri Point Oil Company for 30 years. Mrs. Luckett was a member of the Madison Pilot Club, holding several offices; Auxiliary of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion; the Jefferson County Democrat Womens Club; and, a member of the First Christian Church, serving as treasurer and on many committees. She was a supporter of Madison Riverfront Development, a volunteer and fundraiser.
Private graveside service will be at the Springdale Cemetery, Madison, with Randy Reed officiating. There will be no public visitation or funeral ceremony.

Norma E. Ryker Scott
Norma E. Ryker Scott, 87, of Cross Plains passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born April 14, 1918 in Ripley County, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Thornton) Ryker, both deceased. She married Harold Scott on June 28, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1985.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Rhonda Scott of Madison; and Ronnie and JoAnn Scott of Floyds Knobs; sisters-in-law Marjorie Christman Ryker of Cross Plains; Jeanette Vasbinder of Terre Haute; Mary Ellen Scott Gray of Madison; and Norma Brandes of Versailles; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Thornton Red Ryker and brothers-in-law Ernie Vasbinder, Garland Gray and Morris Scott.
Mrs. Scott graduated from Hanover College. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught at Cross Plains and South Ripley schools. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, the National Retired Teachers Association, the Eastern Star in Fairfax, IA and the Cross Plains Church of Christ.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, December 15 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 11:00 a.m. at the Cross Plains Church of Christ with Rev. Logan Fugate officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery, Cross Plains.

Carl C. Schroder
Carl C. Schroder, 97, of Wilmington, North Carolina, formerly of Pierceville passed away Tuesday December 6, 2005 at the home of his daughter in Wilmington. He was born at Pierceville on September 19, 1908 the son of Christian and Mary Graue Schroder. He was married to Helen McLafferty on October 8,1931 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2005.
Mr. Schroder was a 1926 graduate of Milan High School and had attended Indiana University. He had worked as a machinist in Connersville until the death of his father in 1935 when he returned to Pierceville to manage the store. He and his wife owned and operated Schroder’s Store in Pierceville for 32 years where he also served as postmaster. During the World War II years he worked at Cook’s foundry along with operating the store.
Survivors include one daughter Renee Godsey and her husband Robert of Wilmington, North Carolina; one son Roger Schroder and his wife Sue of Indianapolis; granddaughters Christy Miller, Vicki Williams, and Julie Corbett and her husband Ross; grandsons Terry Godsey, Patrick Godsey, Jamie Godsey and his wife Sandra, Kent Schroder and his wife Dana; great-granddaughters Shanna, Emily, Allison, Amanda, Allison, and Olivia; great-grandsons Joshua and his wife Tammi, and Nicholas; great-greatgrandsons Asher and Kylan; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Irene Strom and Margaret Overbeck.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10 at 11am at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ at Finks Corner with Rev. Karyl Leslie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9am until time of services.

Dale V. Curry
Dale V. Curry, 75, of Vevay, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born July 24, 1930 in Center Square, the son of Paul L. and Susie M. (Brett) Curry, both deceased.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Mary Jane “Janie” and Steve Konkle of Vevay; sons and daughter-in-law Ricky Alan and Kim Curry of Madison and Robert Dale of Roseburg, OR; sister Katherine Martin of Dillsboro; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Ina Mae Caplinger and brother Jimmy Curry.
Mr. Curry was a 1948 graduate of Vevay High School and a graduate of an Auctioneer School in Decatur. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage on January 12, 1951 to Ethel May (Lewis) in Versailles and to this union arrived two sons and a daughter. Curry was a farmer for 30 years on his family farm near Moorefield. He also was an auctioneer. He had worked for the B&F Furniture Factory, Wal-Mart and Richardson Industries. Curry was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, Vevay VFW Post #5396, and the Long Run Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday, December 9 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Brother Logan Fugate. Burial will be at the Vevay Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and Vevay VFW Post #5396.

Floyd R. Wittenberg
Floyd R. Wittenberg, 80, of Granger, died Friday, December 2, 2005. He was born August 17, 1925 in Ripley County, the son of Fred and Helen Black Wittenberg, both deceased. He married Irma Gene Barr and she survives.
Survivors also include daughter and sons-in-law Jayne and Ron Stenger of Tipp City, OH; and Susan and Buck Miller of Granger; sister Elaine Gerber of Indianapolis and four grandchildren.
Mr. Wittenberg was owner and CEO of Medical Gas and Equipment Company. In Evansville, he was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Kennel Club. In Sarasota, FL, Mr. Wittenberg was a member of The Meadows Country Club and St. James United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.

Henry G. Shinkle, Jr.
Henry G. Shinkle, Jr., 82, of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was born January 29, 1923 in Boone, KY, the son of (Fritz) Henry Grayson and Mattie Kittle Shinkle, both deceased. He married Mary Ann Shinkle and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Grayson of Lawrenceburg; Gordon of Winchester, VA; and, Ken of Holton; daughter Bernita Wafford of Lawrenceburg; brother Samuel of Milan; sister Bernice Caddock of Florence, KY; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Wilbur, Robert and Kenneth.
Mr. Shinkle was a fireman/oiler at Seagrams Distillery.

James Leonard “Jimi” Stockdale
James Leonard “Jimi” Stockdale, 48, of Madison, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born April 18, 1957 in Madison, the son of James Edward and Neva Noell Stockdale, both deceased. He married Brenda Kay Walters of Madison on November 2, 1974, and she survives.
Survivors also include daughter and son-in-law Angela and Captain Jeff Lowe of Great Britain; sisters and brother-in-law Louann and William Kasper of Madison; and Jeannie Rowlett of Hanover; brother and sister-in-law Lyle and Ginger Stockdale of Madison; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bob and Til Walters of Madison; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Mr. Stockdale graduated from Madison Consolidated High School. He worked many years for Walter’s Construction as a finish carpenter. He had worked the past 13 years as a carpenter foreman at Madison State Hospital.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 10 from 12-2:00 p.m. at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison. Funeral services immediately following.

Ruth C. Reed
Ruth C. Reed, 85, of Osgood, died Monday, December 5, 2005, at her residence. She was born August 6, 1920 in Owensboro, KY, the daughter of Joseph David and Maggie Daugherty Nichols, both deceased. She married Ingram Williams and he preceded her in death. She then married Raymond F. Reed of Greensburg, and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Patrick and Gloria Williams of Chattanooga, TN; David and Phyllis Williams of Lafayette; Jack and Ann Williams of Hayden; and Clarion “Buck” and Ruth Williams of Greensburg; daughters and sons-in-law Joanne and Ray Catron of Versailles; and Melba and Gaines Rogers of Gainesville, FL; stepdaughters and husbands Sharon and Donald Riedel of Madison; Brenda and James Reibel of Charlottesville, VA; and Mary and Bob Gonya of Goshen, KY; 37 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Melva Paris and brothers Howard and David Nichols.
Mrs. Reed was born and raised in Owensboro, KY, a former resident of Westport, and a four-year resident of Osgood. She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church in Versailles and attended the Westport Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, September 8 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, 402 E. Bennett Street, Westport, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9 at noon at Westport Baptist Church with Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery.

Chester Arthur
Lindewald

Chester Arthur Lindewald, 61, of Osgood, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born November 7, 1944, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Robert and Esther Caldwell Lindewald, and they preceded him in death.
He is survived by son Scott Lindewald of Germany; daughter Lori Miller of Osgood; sister Georgia Cathey of Osgood, and six grandchildren.
Mr. Lindewald was a former employee of Dynamic Electronics of Wichita, KS for 15 years.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home, 306 S. Walnut Street, Osgood with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be at Evangelical Union Cemetery in Sunman.

Glen Pommerehn
Glen Pommerehn, 91, of Vevay, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born August 30, 1914 in Jefferson County, the son of Chauncey and Janie Gunion Pommerehn and they preceded him in death. He married Shirley Kinman on April 4, 1942 in Brooksburg and she survives.
Survivors also include brother Gale of Hill City, KS; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by brother Rev. Earl Pommerehn.
Mr. Pommerehn was a 1932 graduate of Central High School on Ryker’s Ridge and a graduate of Louisville Technical School. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and received the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star and many other decorations. Mr. Pommerehn served as a radar technician on several battle ships, and then was a broadcast engineer, retiring after 30 years. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, past master of the Bennington Masonic Lodge (now Switzerland Masonic Lodge #122), member of Vevay VFW Post 5396, the DAV & Amvets in Madison, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Pommerehn also was a member of the Caledonia United Presbyterian Church near Moorefield, and had attended the Union Baptist Church at Lamb.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, December 1, from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. A private service will follow visitation. Graveside military services will be conducted at Caledonia Cemetery, Moorefield, by the Fort Knox Honor Guard & Ceremonial Unit with the Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396.

Jeremy Ludeker
