An armed robbery occurred at Triplett's Pharmacy in Osgood just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29.

According to Deputy Michael Benjamin of the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, the robber walked into the pharmacy, ran down an aisle to the pharmacy center, which is located in the rear of the store, pointed a small silver handgun at the pharmacist and demanded OxyContin, a powerful pain medication.

Sheriff Bill Davison noted that within four minutes of the 911 call for help, four officers from his department, and Versailles Town Marshal David Adams were on the scene. The suspect had already fled the area with an undetermined amount of OxyContin.

The suspect is described as follows: white male, 5'10-5'11, husky build, unshaven dark brown facial hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a gray toboggan pulled down to his eyebrows, wearing brown square sunglasses and a leopard scarf over his nose and mouth.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to contact the Ripley County Sheriff's Department at 812-689-5555.

Sheriff Davison noted that the pharmacists nor the other two employees of the pharmacy were injured in the incident.

A customer who came into the pharmacy directly after the robbery had taken place noted that while the employees were not injured, they were definitely shaken up. "It was a scary moment," noted Cathy May, who went into the pharmacy to make a purchase just after the robbery occurred.

Assisting the Ripley County Sheriff's Department are officers from the Osgood and Versailles police departments, and the Indiana State Police.
