Verbosky sentenced to 12 years for cooking meth
Matthew Verbosky, 28 of Rising Sun, was sentenced
on January 10 to 12 years in prison for his involvement in
a methamphetamine lab located in Ripley County. Four years
of the sentence was suspended to probation.
Verbosky had been charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine
and Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, both Class B
Felonies. A jury heard evidence for two days and then returned
a guilty verdict.
The court found Verbosky's pending charges in Switzerland
County to be aggravating considerations. The defendant has
cases pending in that county for Possession of Cocaine, as
well as another case for maintaining an Illegal Drug Lab in
his Vevay apartment. A prior felony assault conviction was
also considered by the court.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Ryan King noted that the use of methamphetamine
in Indiana has reached epidemic proportions. He was pleased
with Circuit Court Judge Carl Taul's decision and said this
sort of sentence should act as a deterrent to "would be" methamphetamine
users and cookers in Ripley County.
