Osgood Town Board approves new deputy marshal

At the Osgood Town Board meeting January 17,
it was announced that Osgood has a new Deputy Marshal. Danny
Hamilton was approved by the board. He has been a reserve deputy
for the sheriff's department.
The town will purchase real estate located at the corner of
Wilson and Walnut Street from Bill Schmaltz for Economic Development.
The $135,000 cost will be paid out of the Regional Revenue
Sharing Fund.
Osgood Fire Chief Chris Lemen reported there
were 41 fire runs for 2005. The average time of arrival was
four minutes. There were
13 members per run for a total of 744 hours and 39 minutes
of man hours.
Tony Wood, wastewater superintendent, said they have been
working with Best Metal Finishing concerning a foaming problem.
Wood gave Council a 5-year report showing the decrease in flows,
which indicates an improved sewer system. The data points to
a positive trend.
Council approved a claim from Mitchell and Stark for $40,035.61
for the Sewer Inflow and Infiltration Project. Also, there
will be additional lining work done on Buckeye Street from
Railroad
Avenue to the Glory Bee, the alley
behind the library to Franklin Street and on Olive Street from
Beech Street to the top of the hill. The date of completion
on the project will be extended to February 27.
A claim from Johannigman Excavating for the North Walnut Street
Sidewalk Project was approved for $11,264.00. Claims for Commonwealth
Engineering were approved: $749.54 2nd partial payment for
bid construction on the N. Walnut Street Project, $1,670.66 on
engineering services performed on the Sewer Inflow and Infiltration
Project.
The agreement between the Town of Osgood and the Town of Napoleon
was signed. This agreement charges the Town of Napoleon a monthly
maintenance, repair and replacement fee of $160 for Osgood's
gas regulator and gas meter. The Town of Napoleon grants Osgood
a permanent perpetual easement.
All three town board members were present: Jeff Volz, Paul
Struckman, and Linda Krinop. Attorney Mary Ann Gay and Clerk-Treasurer
Tammy Wilhoit were present to advise the board. The next regular
meeting of the Osgood Town Board will be February 21 at 7:00
p.m. at the Osgood Town Hall.
