Nanco Uniform Manufacturing makes home
in Osgood
Annexation discussed at Osgood Town mtg.
Cathy May - Contributing Writer
The town of Osgood increased the amount of the loan from $160,000 to $185,000
to Nanco Uniform Manufacturing at the April meeting. Owner Stacey Staggs-Johnson
asked for the increase to make additional improvements to the building on Wilson
Street. The one-percent interest rate loan is coming from the towns Regional
Revenue Sharing Fund.
Annexation was again discussed. Board member Paul Struckman would like to annex
those homes that are currently receiving extra town services (garbage pick
up and snow removal). He would like to try a voluntary annexation of Shook
Street. Attorney Mary Ann Gay advised the town to do the annexation all at
once. This would be from US 421 south of the Napoleon State Bank to 200 N and
Shook Street. Gay will prepare a letter to be sent to the residents. If annexation
papers are not signed by June 1 the extra services will be stopped.
A letter was received from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation declining the
grant money for the North Walnut Street Light Project. Town board member Linda
Krinop asked about the possibility of submitting to the Reynolds Foundation.
She will get with David Mohler about some pricing.
The Osgood Water Department received a Water Flurodiation Quality Award. The
Oral Health Division wished to officially commend and thank Osgood Water for
successfully maintaining optimal fluoride levels and meeting the states
fluoridation monitoring requirements for the year 2004.
The Street Department has been changing culverts and doing some ditching. Their
next project will be to work on storm drain issues on Fairgrounds and Maple
streets. The North Walnut Street Sidewalk Project is about to get started.
Gas Superintendent Steve Wilhoit said the Gas Cost Adjustment Factor had been
lowered on the April bills. The new meter which was installed at the odorant
station had been struck by lightning and has been sent off for repair.
Ripley County Tourism Director, Katherine Taul, presented the Town of Osgood
with the 2006 Milestone Award from Lt. Governor Becky Skillman
for their 150th anniversary.
All three town board members were present: Jeff Volz, Paul Struckman, and Linda
Krinop. Attorney Mary Ann Gay and Clerk-Treasurer Tammy Wilhoit were present
to advise the board. The next regular meeting of the Osgood Town Board will
be May 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Osgood Town Hall.
