Luke R. Kaiser, 81, of Oldenburg, died Monday, April 24, 2006. Visitation is today, Thursday, April 27 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg.

Duane Joseph Peters, Junior, infant son of Duane and Stacie Peters, died Friday, April 21, 2006. Private family funeral services have been held. Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Ray L. Holt
Ray L. Holt, 77, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Dearborn County Hos-pital in Lawrenceburg. He was born in Cincinnati on October 3, 1928 the son of Roy and Flonnie Godby Holt. He was married to Katherine Kemker on October 10, 1992 and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother Flonnie Holt of Milan; four sons, Daniel Holt and his wife Deborah of Westport, David Holt of Batesville, Stephen and Penny of Morris, and Randy and Renee Holt of Osgood; three daughters, Carolyn Reese of Rushville, Teresa Isaacs and her husband Daniel of Versailles, and Melody Bridgeford and her husband Craig of Batesville; step-children, Bonnie McCabe and her husband Dave of Moores Hill, Connie Rohrig of Milan, and Bud Ward of Versailles; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Holt of Elizabethtown, and Russell Holt of Milan; four sisters, Gladys Walden of Cincinnati, Ruby McDonald of Milan, Pauline Kurtz of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and Eva Cook of Indianapolis.
Mr. Holt was a self-employed contractor. He also had worked as a mechanic for the Indiana State Highway Department and had driven a school bus for the Batesville school system for 17 years. He was a graduate of Louisville Bible College and was a member of the Community Nazarene Church in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Nazarene Church in Greensburg with Pastor Perry Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be today, Thursday, April 20 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Fu-neral Home in Versailles.

Margaret Daugherty
Margaret Daugherty, 81, of Dillsboro passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the home of her daughter near Cross Plains. She was born at New Point on March 13, 1925 the daughter of Francis and Fern Martin Barkley. She was married to Howard Daugherty on March 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1989.
Survivors include one son David Daugherty of Alabama and Dianna Smith and her husband Wayne of Cross Plains; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Alice "Nan" Meadors of Morris and Maxine "Cennie" Obertate of Lawrenceburg, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Daugherty was formerly employed with Romwebers in Batesville and had worked as an aide and cook at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was a member of the New Point Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church with John Hilbert, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
Memorials may be given to Vista Care of Seymour in care of the funeral home.

Larry G. Shaw
Larry G. Shaw, 59, of Madison, formerly of Ripley County, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006 as the result of an auto accident south of Versailles.
He was born at Muncie on November 6, 1947 the son of Arthur and Caroline Krick Shaw. He was married to Cherie Helton on November 16, 1987 and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons: Larry Shaw, Jr. and wife Christy of Louisville, Terry Shaw of Madison, and Gary and wife Wanda Shaw of Kent; two daugh-ters: Lori Walston and husband Gary of Osgood, and Shellie and husband Jason Yorn of Sunman; three stepdaughters: Michelle At-well and husband Tim of Milan, Paula and husband Shafter Bowling of Madison, Sherry and husband Jason Smith of Cross Plains; stepson Adam Fisher who is currently serving in Iraq; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four brothers: Daniel Shaw of Versailles, John Shaw of Bedford, Ky., Harold Shaw of Defiance, Oh., and Lowell Shaw of Peoria, Oh.; four sisters: Sandy Smith of Versailles, Louise Tiesen and Betty Warner both of Adrian, Mi., and Beverly Shaw of New Castle, Ky.; stepfather and mother-in-law Robert and Nettie Richmond of Moores Hill; brother-in-law Shawn Helton of Moores Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Richard Shaw and Robert Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a self-employed carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Robert Brigmon of the Trinity Christian Center in Lawrenceburg officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Trinity Christian Center in care of the funeral home.

Virginia Faye Hartman Hall, 85, of Vevay, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at the Caledonia Presbyterian Church, near Moorefield with visitation Friday, April 14 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay.


Russell G. Owens
Russell G. Owens, 82, of Osgood passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006. He was born August 14, 1923 at Rushville, the son of Glen and Ethel Goodpaster Owens, both deceased. He married Dollie Mae Groves and she preceded him in death on June 6, 1989.
Survivors include son Steven Eric Owens of Osgood; daughters Debra Whalbring and Kathy Lynn Davidson both of Osgood; brothers James, Joe, Charles and John all of Osgood and Eugene of Kentucky; sisters Faye Mills of Osgood. Lou Trueblood of Salem and Georgia Adkinson of Milan; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by son Russell Glen Owens, Jr. and brothers Dennis and Rawley Owens.
Mr. Owens was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Osgood Christian Church and past member of CB Helping Hands Club of Milan.
Funeral services are today, Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Osgood Christian Church. Mr. Owens will lie in state at the church today from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral. Burial will be at Greendale Cemetery, Osgood.

James Edward Turner, Jr.
James Edward Turner, Jr. reached his peace, at last, in the arms of our Lord March 31, 2006. Jim was born September 26, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He lived most of his life in Indianapolis, Indiana and spent the last few years in Versailles to be near and to care for his beloved grandmother, Bea Littell.
Preceding Jim in death were his grandparents George Rountree, Don Littell, Ova and Flora Turner; his stepmother Gloria Ashcraft Turner; his sister Barbara Jo Turner; his uncles Lou Rountree and George Turner; and his aunt Iva Turner Stenger.
Survivors include parents Ronald and Lois Hopton of New Braunfels, Texas and James Edward Turner, Sr.; grandmother Bea Littell; two beloved stepdaughters Melissa Quinley of Indianapolis and Amanda Quinley Vivas with his granddaughter Abigail Vivas of Tamarac, Florida; brothers Ronald David Turner of New Braunfels, Texas and Chris Hopton of Scottsdale, Arizona; sisters Tracey Hopton Williams of San Angelo, Texas, Jonee Cochran of Aurora, and Dara Turner Stutler of Versailles; stepsisters Karla Hopton, Devona Bonta, Shelly Horn, and Cindy Foley; and stepbrother Mitchell Butler; aunts Audrey Stenger, Freda Adkins, Janet Meierle, Joyce Jones, Joyce Hopton Burgess, and Eleanor Hopton; uncles Donald Turner and Bill Hopton; his great-aunt Pauline Turner and great-uncle Paul DeBurger; 13 nephews and five nieces and many cousins and friends who join us in our sorrow to no longer have Jim here with us.
Pastor Randy Thieman will preside at the Memorial Service to be held Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Shelby Christian church; reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Final internment will be private at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Versailles Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue 69, or the Shelby Christian Church in lieu of flowers. Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge or arrangements.

Melvin D. (Pete) Martin
Melvin D. (Pete) Martin, 70, of Fairfield OH and formerly of Milan, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1935 in Moores Hill, the son of Charles and Sada Shanks Martin, and they survive. He married Mollie Annette Smith and she also survives.
Survivors also include sons Raymond of Sharonville; James and wife Anita of Livingston, KY; Charles of Nashville, TN and John Bowles, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Fairfield, OH; daughter Susan and husband Bill Ogden of Sharonville, OH; sister Wanda Wetzler of Auburn, GA; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Marsha Sinclair; two brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a trucker for Strothman Express Co. of Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Martin was a member of Teamsters Union Local #100, and the Milan American Legion Post #235.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 8 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill. Funeral services will be held following visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Moores Hill with gravesite military rite by Milan Legion Post #235.
Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Katherine Westmeyer Hildebrand
