A routine traffic stop saw two local men taken to jail and two juvenile girls happy to be on their way.

Osgood's Town Marshal Rodney Stepleton arrested 21-year-old Domingo Vela of Delaware, Saturday night, May 6 after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for a traffic violation. He and a juvenile in the vehicle were found to be in possession of marijuana.

Osgood's K-9 Unit, Farrell played an instrumental role in the arrest. He circled the vehicle and then

sat on it signifying that there was some type of illegal drug inside. Stepleton was then able to search the car and found marijuana inside.

Reserve Deputy Jerry Burnett assisted with the arrest and transported both Vela and the juvenile to the Ripley County Jail. Two female occupants of the vehicle were able to drive away.

Stepleton noted that he uses his K-9 unit on a regular basis. "He's a great tool to find drugs," noted the marshal, who said one of his main goals is to take drugs off the streets of Osgood.
