At the ninth Annual Business Recognition Luncheon sponsored by the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce, Spencer-Tyson Pharmacy was honored as the Business of the Year recipient. The event was held last Thursday, May 11 at the Napoleon Senior Center.
“There is no more deserving business,” noted David Baugh, who spoke on behalf of the chamber. He told the crowd that Jon Strautman, owner of the pharmacy was a friend to the community, sponsoring so many events that are community oriented such as school activities, 4-H, sporting events and more.

He noted that the business was begun in 1869, and has been owned by Strautman since 1984. The business has only been owned by three different people, a fact that makes Strautman proud.

In his acceptance speech, Strautman noted that he is proud of the community he serves. He was appreciative of being honored with the award and of all the support he receives throughout the community.

Baugh, who works with State Farm Insurance noted that many times when people are talking to them about the new Medicare Part D program, the first question they ask is, “Can I still go to Jon and get my prescriptions?” Baugh said of Strautman, “He’s just that kind of person, a trusted friend.”
