Dan Craig was sworn in as the
new marshal of Sunman at the May town board meeting. Craig
formerly served at Milan for four years. He said he is happy
to be serving the town and noted that citizens can call him
at 812-623-5000 with any concerns. He is a graduate of Lawrenceburg
High School and the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He and
his wife Jamie have three children.
It was noted at the meeting that Sunman will be purchasing
a 2005 used police car from the town of Milan for $15,000.
Tom Dehoff of Signs of the Times presented Council
with a model of a welcome sign for the town. The cost of the
two signs, fully installed is $8,890.00. The money will be
taken from the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund.
Since the town is going to such great lengths to make the
sidewalks handicap accessible, Council wants to see all obstacles
removed. This would include flowerpots, benches and mailboxes
within the ordinance limits. Letters will go out to those
who currently have offenses.
Board member John Campbell reported he attended a Ripley County
Board of Health meeting concerning the bird flu
pandemic. There will be a training later that Campbell says
both Council and town employees should attend.
The Ripley County Community Foundation will be making a promotional
video. They will be doing some filming at the Sunman Town
Hall.
Clerk-Treasurer Kris Schneider, updated Council on the grant
application to the City of Lawrenceburg. The grant is for
the sanitary sewer line extension to I-74. She is gathering
letters of support.
All three board members attended the meeting: Wayne Jenner,
John Campbell and Mike Wolffe. Also, present to advise the
board was Clerk-Treasurer Kris Schneider. The next regular
meeting of the Sunman Town Board will be June 15 at 6:30 p.m.
at the Sunman Town Hall.
