The Rising Sun Regional Foundation announced that it has awarded a total of $42,000 in scholarship grants to 42 graduating seniors who reside in Ohio and Ripley counties and the City of Aurora, the foundation’s southeastern Indiana grantmaking region. Each student has received a $1,000 scholarship award.

Recipients of these RSRF scholarships are:
Matthew Baum, Krista Bergman, Ann Dagenbach, Angela Fullenkamp, Shelley Mitchell, and Krystle Oliver from Batesville Community School Corporation.
Kendra Darringer, Jessica Doll, Anthony Moorman, and Rachel Richter, from East Central Community School Corporation.

Justin Foster, Deidre Hellmich, Angela Hildebrand, Craig Horan, Emily Linville, Malakai McPherson from Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation.
Joseph Berger, Kyle George, Jason Green, Amanda Hartman, Kayla Johnson, Jessica Ruble from Milan Community School Corporation.
Jonathan Roell, Kathryn Welsh, from Oldenburg Academy.

All graduating seniors who reside in Ohio and Ripley counties and the City of Aurora, who have maintained a six-semester grade point average of 2.75 or higher, and who plan to attend a post-secondary educational institution, were eligible to apply for these scholarship awards. The number of scholarships awarded was based on the respective senior class populations in the seven public high schools located in the foundation’s grantmaking region and the total number of applications received from those eligible students attending private/parochial secondary schools. Winners of these scholarships were drawn at random at each school from the pool of applications which were submitted to the Rising Sun Regional Foundation with official transcripts.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation was created in 1994 by Rising Sun and Ohio County in relation to the development of the Grand Victoria Casino and Resort in Rising Sun by the Hyatt Corporation.
