Jerry D. Brower, 53, of Holton, lost his life in an accident that occurred Friday, June 30, at approximately 4:04 p.m. near Osgood.

According to information from the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred when Amanda J. Smith, 18, of Versailles was operating a maroon 1999 Dodge pickup truck traveling west on County Road 300 North and collided with the motorcycle Brower was operating. He was traveling south on Tanglewood Road near Osgood.

Smith was reported as receiving no injuries. Brower, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by Ripley County Deputy Coroner Mike Stratton.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff's Department, who was assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police, Department of Natural Resources, Osgood Police, Rescue 69, Task Unit One and First Responders. Deputy Rob Bradley was the investigating officer from the sheriff's department.
