Philip Lee Deamron
Philip Lee Deamron, 82, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born May 29, 1924 in Campbellsburg, KY, the son of Dee Clifford and Tinnie (Garriott) Deamron, both deceased. He married Jean Deamron of Dillsboro and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Lee (Amy) and Randy Lee (Lora) of Dillsboro; Larry Ray (Jean) of Versailles; daughters Debbie (Rod) Hamilton, Melody Richardson and Pamela (David) Kitchell of Dillsboro; brother Clifton of Dillsboro; sister Marie Chilton of Aurora and Irene Fischer of Lawrenceburg; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Mildred Coblin and son-in-law Bruce Richardson.
Mr. Deamron was an independ-ent trucker. He worked for Phillips 66 for 47 years. Mr. Deamron also farmed several acres for many years.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, July 25 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hosanna Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Dills-boro.
Memorials may be given to the Friendship Fire Department of Dillsboro Emergency Unit.

Melvin Joseph Brinkman
Melvin Joseph Brinkman, 83, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in Columbus. He was born January 19, 1923 in Oldenburg, the son of William and Emma (Niese) Brinkman, both deceased. He married Rosemary Herbert on June 12, 1948 at St. Maurice Church in Napoleon and she sur-vives.
Survivors also include sons David (Mary Beth), Steve, and Dale (Carol) all of Batesville; Dan (Lisa) of Indianapolis; daughters Linda (Tom) Amberger of Greensburg; Carol (Steve) McGrath of Cincinnati; and, Mary Kay Brinkman of Oldenburg; brother Jerry of Batesville; sister Anna Mae Osier of Batesville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers William, Annas and John; and sisters Blanche Coburn and Arlene Moorman.
Mr. Brinkman was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was the founder and former owner of Brinkman Construction. Mr. Brinkman was a member of the St. Louis Church, the VFW Post 3183 in Batesville and the Knights of St. John.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28 from 3-8:00 p.m. at the Meyers Funeral Home, 500 W. Pearl Street, Batesville. The Mass of Christian Burial with graveside military rites will be held Saturday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Louis Church in Batesville.

Nellie Volz, 82, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Sunman, died Sunday, July 23, 2006.

Ina Faye McElroy
Ina Faye McElroy, 71, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born September 26, 1934 at Oneida, KY, the daughter of Harold and Lucinda (Byrd) Combs.
Survivors include daughters Penny Sue (David) Jones of Madi-son; Pamela K. (Ron) Stephenson of Lexington and Michelle Boggs of Milan; sisters Mary Elnor Morris of Beaver Creek, OH; Barbara Gibson of Ocilla, GA and Mae Angel of Middletown, OH and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Brian Keith Risinger.
Mrs. McElroy was a former em-ployee of Muscatatuck State Hos-pital and was a member of the Washington Baptist Church at Elrod.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. - Noon at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Clarence Doyle and Rev. Almaroad Joel officiating.

Carl E. Cooper
Carl E. Cooper, 83, of Sunman, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the Hospitality Hall, Batesville. He was born November 29, 1922 in Cincinnati, the son of William Monroe and Della Ann (Williams) Cooper, both deceased. He married Betty J. (Inman) Cooper on June 10, 1942 and she preceded him death on November 1, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Buford (Rita) Cooper of Sunman, Boyd (Janet) Cooper of Connersville; three daughters, Le-tha (Larry) Dell of Sunman, Carol (Tom) Cummings of Milan, Bar-bara (Terry) Olive of Sunman; one brother, Ray Cooper of Milan; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One son, Carl Cooper, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Cooper was a retired fabri-cator for Stacy’s Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Sunman F&AM Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Cincinnati; the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 14, 5-8 p.m. at the Sunman Community Church. Masonic services will be held Friday, at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at the Sunman Community Church with Pastor Dan Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Methodist Cemetery south of Sunman.
Memorials may be made to the Sunman Life Squad or the Ripley County Heart Fund.

Charles S. Vogelsang
Charles S. Vogelsang, 81, of Sunman, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Dearborn County Hos-pital, Lawrenceburg. He was born December 14, 1924 in New Alsace the son of Joseph and Stella Feller Vogelsang. He married Dorothy Zimmer on July 7, 1950 in New Alsace and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Wayne Jenner of Sunman; one son, Tom Vogelsang of Sunman; grandsons, Evan Jenner and Neil Jenner; great grandchildren, Brody Jenner and Haley Jenner and two sisters, Antoinette "Nettie" Bulach and Margaret Knecht. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosie Hornberger, Lorehan McCann, Frances Robinson and Bernita Weekly and two brothers, Leo and Raphael Vogelsang.
Mr. Vogelsang was a welder and a mechanic. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and the Sunman Lodge #590 F&AM.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, July 13, 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman and after 12 noon, Friday, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Hubbell’s Corner. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, Hubbell’s Corner with Kirstin Springmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Evangelical Union Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Kenneth L. Diver Post #337 American Legion Post, Sunman.
Memorials may be made to the Manchester Life Squad or to the Sunman Area Life Squad.

Jerry D. Brower
Jerry D. Brower, 53, of Dabney passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 as the result of an accident near Osgood. He was born at Milan on August 8, 1952 the son of Vernie and Mabel Shelley Brower. He was married to Janet Murray on October 25, 1969 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, John Brower and his wife Mary of Holton; two daughters, Michelle Pickett of Brooksburg, and Elizabeth Cathey and her husband Eugene of Westport; grandchildren David Aaron Pickett, Hayley and Lane Cathey; one brother, Darwin Brower and his wife Rebecca of Holden, MO; two sisters, Darla Jones and her husband Randy of Dabney and Diane Miller and her husband Wayne of Hunstville, AL.
Mr. Brower had formerly worked as a mechanic at the Hum-phrey Motor Company in Osgood. He was a 32-year employee of the Southeastern Indiana REMC and was currently serving as a jour-neyman lineman. He was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Strat-ton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Charles Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Brower Family Cemetery near Holton.

Wm. "Bud" Wilburn
Wm. "Bud" Wilburn, 76, of Versailles, died Monday, July 3, 2006 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born April 23, 1930 near Rising Sun the son of James Milton and Lelah Walston Wilburn, both deceased. He married Joann Wilburn and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1990.
Survivors include his significant other, Alice Berry of Versailles; three sons, Retired Sergeant Major Donald Earl Wilburn of Ocean Side, CA, Timothy Wilburn of Osgood, Charles Wilburn of Elrod; one daughter, Barbara Wagner of Greensburg; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Marie Rider Irey, Nola Pearl Dunn and Mary Scott and one great-grandchild, Race David Wilburn.
Mr. Wilburn worked for the Ripley County Highway Depart-ment as superintendent for ap-proximately 13 years from the late 1980’s to the middle 1990’s.
A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, July 7 at the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro at 10 a.m. Memorials may go to the donor’s choice.

Marcia Kay Walston
Marcia Kay Walston, 57, of Ventura, CA, died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at her daughter’s resi-dence in Rising Sun.
Funeral services were Monday, July 3, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Farmers Retreat. Ulrich Filter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


DuWane C. Bonfer
DuWane C. Bonfer, 76, of Milan passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born August 20, 1929 in Milan, the son of Carl and LaVern (Brandt) Bonfer, both deceased. He married Doris Wiley Bonfer on February 23, 1952 and she survives.
Other survivors include son Kevin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughter Debbie of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Earl (Bub) and Herman, and sister Clara Lee Taylor.
Mr. Bonfer was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was an engineer with Fernald until retiring in 1991. Mr. Bonfer was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Stumpkes Corner. He was an avid golfer.
Funeral services will be held to-day, Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Milan. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Milan American Legion Post #235.

Valerie E. Smith
Valerie E. Smith, 64, of Osgood, passed away Thursday June 29, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born at Milan on September 4, 1941 the daughter of Robert and Mary Struckman Brewington. She was married to Lawrence "Bud" Smith on August 6, 1965 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Smith of Holton and Scott Smith of Moores Hill; three daughters, Sheryl Smith of Osgood, Sherry Smith-Wunar, And Sheila Smith Vega both of Warrenville, IL; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Brewington and Tom Brewington both of Milan; and Don Brewington of Batesville; one sister, Martha Waldron of Burt Lake, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dan Brewington, and her sister Mary Ellen Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a 1959 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
Funeral services were held Sun-day, July 2, 2006 at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elsie Rose Cummings
Elsie Rose Cummings, 80, of Salem, formerly of Milan, died Monday, July 3, 2006 at Washing-ton County Memorial Hospital in Salem. She was born May 30, 1926 the daughter of Oscar Frank and Nelle (Linville) Kuhn, both deceased. She married Lewis Roy Cummings in September of 1945 and he preceded her in death in June of 1971.
Survivors including three sons, Tom Cummings of Milan, Ralph (Pete) Cummings of Batesville, Mike Cummings of Vevay; two daughters, Louella Richardson of Osgood, Linda Hall of Columbus; one half sister, Nora Dickson of Brazil; long time friend, Ruth Hampton of Salem; and five grand-children. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel (Foxy) Cummings in 2004.
Mrs. Cummings was a home-maker and had also attended Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, July 6, 6-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Milan with Rev. Tom Holt officiating.
Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may go to the Ripley County Humane Society.
