General Election
Wanda English Burnett - Editor
You will need photo ID at the polls next Tuesday,
November 7. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has extended
all license branch hours to allow for the issuance of state-issued
photo identification cards and driver licenses to meet the general
election deadline.
According to information from Greg Cook, BMV Communications
Office, license branches, including full-service, satellite
and reinstatement centers, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00
p.m. on Monday, November 6 and from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, November 7.
Cook noted that customers who are seeking a state-issued photo
identification card or driver license for the purpose of voting
will be given priority on both Monday and Tuesday, the day before
and election day. He went on to say employees of the license
branch will work to accommodate all customers as well.
We look forward to assisting all of our customers in a
timely, professional fashion, said BMV Commissioner Ron
Stiver. We are also encouraging customers needing a photo
identification card to visit a license branch even before Nov.
6 and Nov. 7. Our associates will be more than happy to help.
Regular hours for license branches will resume on Wednesday,
November 8, however all branches will be closed on Saturday,
November 11 for the Veterans' Day holiday. BMV administrative
offices will be closed for the holiday on Friday, November 10.
Documents of identification needed to obtain state-issued ID
cards for voting purposes include:
a primary document, such as a birth certificate or passport;
a secondary document, such as a pay check or a signed
bank or credit card;
a proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
Hoosiers can conduct BMV business at any Indiana license branch,
regardless of their county of residence. For more information,

The license branch at Versailles is located at 829 S. Adams,
on US 421 and is open regular hours on Wednesday and Friday,
from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. They will, however, be open on Monday, November 6, along
with all license branches in Indiana.
