Rezone request heard at planning meeting
New CVS store coming to Versailles

CVS will be putting up a new building in Versailles at the intersection of US 50 and US 421, across from McDonald’s. Owners of the properties at the intersection, Roger and Debra Kavanaugh, Rodney and Michelle Sellers and Steven and Carrie Vawter, attended the Ripley County Area Planning Commission meeting on November 7 to request the rezone from Residential-3 to Local Business. The properties on the North of US 50 between High and Adams Streets will be rezoned upon approval of the Versailles Town Council.

John and Jo Anna Kinker requested the vacation and re-plat of the Quickie one-lot agricultural subdivision into the Quickie three-lot agricultural subdivision. The property is located at 7930 E. County Road 1100 N, Sunman on 41.903 acres. They were granted primary approval.

George Allen Gay-Swinford applied for primary approval of Warpath Subdivision located on two lots on .6984 acres in the local business district. Lot #1 is at 601 N. Main Street in Milan and Lot #2 at 600 N. Warpath Drive in Milan. Lot #1 requires two variances: one for lot frontage of 80' to 75.35' and acreage from .333 to .023 acre. The variances were approved and primary approval was granted.

Andrew V. Weisenbach’s applications was postponed. Grover, Johnie and Bryan Miller’s application was tabled.

The nominating committee for 2007 will consist of Jeff French, chairperson, Kay Hunger and Maureen Sheets.

Planning Director Tad Brinson gave his monthly report for October. There were 49 improvement location permits, four plats approved, two variances granted, five rezones approved, two subdivisions granted, and one rural home occupation permit given.

Eleven of 12 members of the Planning Commission were present: Kaye Hunger, Maureen Sheets, Covell Mills, Owen Menchhofer, Robert Gray, Ronald Palmer, James Negangard, Steve Youngman, Roger Lang, Jeff French, and Dave Osborne.

Executive Director Tad Brinson and Attorney John Ertel were present to advise the board. The next meeting of the Ripley County Planning Commission will be held on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Commissioner’s Room at the Courthouse Annex in Versailles.
