Coach Langferman addresses Milan Football Awards Program

The Milan Football Awards Program was held at the Milan High School cafetorium on Wednesday evening, November 15. In addressing the team, the parents, and the fans, Head Football Coach Langferman applauded the team's efforts and the willingness of parents to help in the many ways they do over the season. This included snacks, lunches before games, preparation of the field for games, etc. Coach stated, "This program is a large undertaking and all are needed and appreciated for the work they do for the team's well being."

Lady Eagles defend control of "Ripley Publishing Pride Trophy"

Following their Saturday, November 11 defense of the Ripley Publishing Co. Inc. "Pride Trophy" against the South Ripley Lady Raiders, the Lady Eagles put it on the line again against the Milan Lady Indians. The game was played at JCD on Saturday evening, November 18.

Lady Eagles vs Lady Indians
JCD 76- 47 Milan
1st Quarter
The opening tip was controlled by Jac-Cen-Del. Lady Eagle senior Emily Einhaus put the first points on the board with a 3, the old fashioned way, via the field goal and free throw combination. Einhaus followed that with a field goal to take the score to a Lady Eagle 5-0 lead. Lady Eagle junior, Kiersten Young put three more on the board via the field goal and free throw combo for 8-0.
Lady Indian sophomore, Becca Haugh, broke the ice for the tribe with a field goal, 8-2. Lady Eagle junior, Carissa Simon, connecting on both ends of a one plus one made it 10-2. Lady Indian sophomore, Jess Wessler, found the bottom of the net for a pair, taking the score to 10-4. Lady Eagle Young scored a field goal for 12-4. Lady Indian Haugh made one of two tries at the free throw stripe for 12-5.
Lady Eagle senior, Erika Simon, put a pair on the books via the field goal, and sophomore Valorie Wagner hit both ends of the one and one for 16-5. Lady Eagles Einhaus, and juniors Kaylin Ploeger and Kara Harlemert, each added field goals, for 22-5. Kady Alloway, a Lady Indian junior, made one of her two free throw attempts, to end the first quarter's scoring at JCD 22-6 Milan.
2nd Quarter
Ploeger continued the upsurge by the Lady Eagles with a FG, but missed the FT in starting the quarter. Lady Indian Kady Alloway scored one of her two free throw attempts for a 24-7 score. Lady Indian junior, Kaity Barton, put her first basket in the books with a field goal, cutting the score to 24-9. Lady Eagle Carissa Simon missed the front end of the one plus one, leaving the score at 24-9. Lady Indian Kady Alloway made the second of her two foul shot attempts, 24-10.
Lady Eagle Einhaus scored a FG, Lauber missed a pair of FT's, senior Abby Rohlfing put in two FG's, and Erika Simon scored a FG also to take the score to 32-10. Lady Indian Kady Alloway missed two freebies, leading to another Lady Eagle FG by Erika Simon, 34-10.
Lady Indian Kady Alloway scored a FG, 34-12. Lady Eagles Einhaus and Young each connected on FG's elevating the score to 38-12. Lady Indian Barton got a FG to fall for 38-14. Lady Eagle Carissa Simon and Lady Indian Kady Alloway traded FG's for 40-16.
Winding down the clock to half time, Lady Indian Barton made one of two FT's, Kady Alloway scored a FG, Becca Haugh scored a FG but missed the FT, and Lacee Alloway made a pair of free throws. The Lady Eagle quarter ended with FG's scored by Harlemert and Wagner. Final score at the half, JCD 44-23 Milan.
3rd Quarter
In opening the second half, the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Indians 14-2. The Lady Eagle scores came from four Lauber FG's, two Einhaus FG's, and a FG by Young. The Lady Indian FG was at the hand of Kady Alloway. With the score 58-25, third quarter play continued.
Lady Indians Kady Alloway scored the three point combo and running partner junior Abby Bergman added a FG for 58-30. Erika Simon connected on a pair of FG's and Wagner added another for the Lady Eagles before quarter's end. Lady Indian Wessler scored a pair of FT's and the third quarter ended with JCD ahead 64-32 over Milan.
4th Quarter
In the fourth quarter the Lady Indians added 15 points to end up with a 47 point total for the game. Those points came from Kady Alloway with a three pointer, two FG's, and two FT's, a sophomore Kelly Stutler basket, and senior Amanda Walter's FG and two FT's.
The Lady Eagles put only 12 points on the score board in the fourth quarter. Those points came from, Young with two FG's and a FT, Carissa Simon's FG and two for two FT shooting, Ploeger's two of four FT attempts made, and Harlemert's one of two FT attempts made. Lauber missed a pair of freebies and Wagner missed three FT's in the final quarter.
Final score, JCD 76-47 Milan.
