Thirty-two year-old Michael Jordan, who had escaped from the Decatur County Jail on November 19, had a short-lived freedom and was arrested last Friday, November 24.

According to information from Sgt. Noel Houze Jr. of the Indiana State Police, Versailles Post, police received information that the escaped prisoner could be in the Greenfield area. Upon further investigation he was found to be driving a stolen 2005 Ford Mustang in Hancock County (Greenfield). Around 9:00 p.m. last Friday, Jordan was located and taken into custody without incident.

Several local Hancock County police agencies were involved in apprehending the suspect, who has been returned to the Decatur County Jail and is currently awaiting additional charges. He was initially jailed on charges of Criminal Confinement, Intimidation with a Firearm, and being a Habitual Criminal. Police had asked the public for assistance last week, saying Jordan should be considered dangerous and could possibly be armed. Police said Jordan could possibly be accompanied by Wayne Kirkman and the two were on the loose. There was no word of Kirkman’s whereabouts when Jordan was apprehended.

Along with Jordan, another inmate at the Decatur County Jail tried to escape, but was caught by a jail officer before he could break out. The pair had managed to get into a secured area and when the officer opened the door to the outside area the two were able to run through the doorway.
