Milan firemen teach fire prevention

Pictured above are kindergartners from Milan Elementary who were being taught about fire safety last week. Some students were allowed to try on the firemen's suit (pictured below) to see how heavy they are. Bill Bruns told them the reason the bill on the firemen's hat is backwards is so water and debris will run off of the hat and protect the firemen's necks. Bruns, along with other firemen from the Milan Volunteer Fire Department, went to Milan schools this week to share with students the importance of preventing fires whenever possible. They also told them what to do if they find themselves in a fire situation. Fire safety was being taught as part of National Fire Prevention Week.
