Osgood merchants get ready for holidays
Mtg. set for October 25

At the October meeting of the Osgood Merchants Association, the Christmas Walk was discussed. Themes and activities were proposed, with a special meeting planned October 24 at 6:30 p.m. at DiGiovonnis Coffee Shop. The purpose of the meeting will be to make decisions concerning the event. Any merchant interested in joining the Osgood Merchants Association is invited to attend. There are presently 21 members, including six new businesses.

At the meeting, the Chili Cook-Off was discussed. The Carriage House was announced as the winner of the contest. DiGiovonnis Coffee House took second place. It was noted that while construction at US 50 and US 421 in Versailles detoured traffic around Osgood the same weekend as the event, it still went relatively well. It was suggested that planning for the 2007 Fall Fest begin in January. Vice President Geneen Ostendorf will chair that committee.

President Randy Ludwig is looking into a grant proposal to assist the association in promoting Osgood businesses. He is compiling business profiles of the current members to assist in the writing of that proposal.

In other business, the sale of the Sesquicentennial Caboose Float was approved. Shirley and Donald Dunbar will purchase it and it will be located on their property in Osgood. The Whistle Stop was reimbursed for some of the expenses incurred during the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. Appreciation was expressed to the Dunbars and Whistle Stop for their help on these projects.
