Napoleon board agrees to requests

A contingent of members of St. John’s Lutheran Church attended the January 9 meeting of the Napoleon Town Board. They presented the board with a list of items they would like to see in a lease with the board for the property they have actually leased from them for a number of years. A copy of the original lease was never found and a new lease has to be drawn up. The board agreed with all conditions presented by the church and Attorney Larry Eaton will draw up a new lease effective back to the original date.

Larry Eaton swore in town board members: Tim Brancamp, Bill Vankirk and Gerry Linarducci. After that, he swore in Clerk Treasurer Karen Rohlfing. Tim Brancamp was elected president of the board for 2008.

Rod Eaton said an old pump went down at the sewer lagoon and will cost $2,600 to fix. A new pump would cost $3,700. They still have a spare pump that they will use for now. The board voted to purchase a plate compactor for $900 that will be used in patching pot holes.

Rod Eaton asked for an increase in pay for the work he does for the sewer lagoon. He has to check the lagoon every day, 365 days a year and also takes samples each week to Osgood for testing. The board voted to give him a flat fee of $700 monthly.

In other business:
• An ordinance was passed for fire services with the Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department for $2,300.
• The street signs that have been ordered have never come in and the company they were ordered from is not able to be contacted. The board will look at getting another company for the signs.
• The board voted to sponsor the Civil War Re-enactment for $500.
All three members of the board were in attendance. The next regular meeting of the Napoleon Town Board will be on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center.
