water project completed

Pat Zaharako of Commonwealth Engineers reported to the Osgood
Town Board at their January 15 meeting that Johannigman Excavating
had substantially completed the water project on December 12,
2007. There was a punch list that was given to Johannigman and
that will need to be completed before the retainage will be released.
The Substantial Completion form was signed by the board. Johannigman
Excavating claims were presented and approved: $98,562.20 pay
request #6, $5,187.48 retainge #6.
Zaharako stated due to the tank that was found and boring under
a residents trees, it added an additional $3,000 to the
project, but the project is currently $53,000 under budget.
Commonwealths claims were tabled until further review.
The Property Use Agreements between the town, Neil Comer, and
Kevin and Jodi Rinear were approved and signed. This is regarding
the purchase of the parking lot on Buckeye Street next to Neil
Comers Law Office.
Ordinance 2008-2 was adopted. It states, the Town Council for
the Town of Osgood hereby adopts the provisions of Indiana Code
36-7-9-1 as its Unsafe Building Law, and hereby designates
the Ripley County building inspector for enforcement of these
ordinances and designates the town council as the Hearing
Authority for the Town of Osgood, and hereby adopts the
definitions and standards as defined in said statutes.
Ordinance 2008-3 was approved. It is to set Standards for Building
Condition or Maintenance Required for Human Habitation, Occupancy
or Use.
Art Simon with the Knights of Columbus was given approval to be
at the stoplight on May 10 for their Tootsie Roll drive.
Osgood Fire Chief Chris Lemen stated the physicals for the firemen
have been set up for January 21.
All three town board members were present: Jeff Volz, Linda Krinop
and Gary Norman. Attorney Mary Ann Gay and Clerk-Treasurer Tammy
Wilhoit were available to advise the board. The next regularly
scheduled meeting will be February 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Osgood
Town Hall. An executive meeting is scheduled for January 22 at
6:00 p.m. to go over police policies.
