Police arrest 70 at party in Milan

After police responded to a complaint received in regard to several vehicles parked in the roadway, yards and driveways of residents in the area of West Ellis Street in Milan, 70 people were arrested.

According to Milan Deputy Marshal Steven Noble, a call came into dispatch about 11:45 p.m. Friday, March 21, complaining of a large party at 607 W. Ellis Street where there were multiple vehicles.

Milan police responded and would soon call for help from neighboring areas for help with what turned out to be an underage drinking party, according to Deputy Marshal Noble. There were an estimated 150 people at the party. While officers were responding, several people fled on foot, but were apprehended a short time later. The majority of the party goers were found inside a large barn, behind the residence.

There were 41 adults (between the ages of 18-21) arrested for minor consuming alcohol, one adult for the crime of disorderly conduct and two adults for possession of marijuana. There were 29 juveniles (under age 18) arrested for minor consuming alcohol, two juveniles for disorderly conduct and one for possession of marijuana. There was a total of 70 people arrested with 76 charges to be filed in the Ripley County Superior Court.

Noble said all of the people arrested or cited, were from the Cincinnati, OH area, primarily attending or alumni of the Oak Hills High School.

Responding with the Milan police were officers from two sheriff’s departments, Ripley and Dearborn counties, Sunman, Osgood, Batesville, Versailles, Moores Hill police departments, and the Indiana State Police.
