2008 ORVC Jr-High Track & Field Meet held at Jac-Cen-Del track

The ORVC Jr-High T&F Meet was held at JCD on Tuesday evening, May 6. The event included competitors from South Ripley, Milan, Rising Sun, Switzerland County, Madison Shawe, Southwestern Hanover and hosting Jac-Cen-Del.
Team scores
Boys' competitions ended with Switzerland County in first place with 116 points, Milan captured second with a total of 74, followed by Rising Sun in third with 68. Fourth position was taken by Southwestern Hanover at 40, with Jac-Cen-Del close behind at fifth with 37. The sixth position was earned by South Ripley with 27 points, followed by last place Shawe Memorial with 7.
The girls team competition ended in a tie for first place between Switzerland County and Rising Sun, each with a total of 90 for the meet. Second place went to South Ripley with 61. Milan's boys were third with 55, followed by Jac-Cen-Del's fourth place finish at 41. Fifth place went to Southwestern Hanover with 34 an Shawe was sixth with 1 point scored.
Boys' Individual Scores
Milan's John Herzog finished first in both the 100m Dash @ :12.5 and the Long Jump with a jump of 16' 11". South Ripley Raider Nathan Meisberger took third in the LJ @ 15' 10" and Milan's Bret Stites was fifth @ 14' 7".
JCD's Joey Chambers finished sixth in the 100m Dash, while Eagle Cody Martin put the Shot for a third place finish @ 104' 11". Raider Kyle Taylor's best distance was 89' 7", good enough for a sixth place finish.
Eagle Cody Gullion's 110m Hurdle effort earned him a second place finish at :17.9. Luke Ryle of Milan crossed the line in a time of :19.0 for a fourth place finish, and Milan's Dylan Sparkman sent the shot put for a 33'+ distance to earn sixth place.
In the boys' 1600m run, Eagle Justin Rangel took second place with a pace ending @ 5:28.8. Milan's Braden Voss was third @ 5:29.3, Indian Nick Walter was fifth @ 5:43.0 with SR's Zach Raab claiming sixth in 5:43.9.
Eagle Rangel ran the 800m to a second place finish in 2:24.9, with Indian Nathan Thompson sewing up third @ 2:26.0 while SR's Kyle Taylor took fifth @ 2:36.0 and Indian Mat Strzok rounded out sixth place with a run of 2:36.5
The boy's High Jump competition ended with Indian Kurtis Kimla second with a height of 5" 4". Kimla also captured a second place finish in the 400m Dash with a run just over a minute. Raider Nathan Meisberger closed the 400m Dash with his sixth place finish in 1:02+.
The 200m Dash, third place finish, by Indian Cory Strunk @ :27.7 was followed by the fourth place finish of SR's Tyler Rolf in :28.0 and Eagle Joey Chambers fifth place run in :28.6.
The boys' Relays of 4x100 and 4x400 were each won by Milan Indian runners. The winning times of the 4x100 was :52.0 and the 4x400, 4:11.6. The Raiders took fourth in the 4x100 in :55.5 and finished second in the 4x400 @ 4:28.7. Jac-Cen-Del's boys' relay team finished fifth in the 4x400 @ 4:38.2.
Girls Individual Scores
Lady Eagle Megan Obermeyer captured first place in the Shot Put with 28' 6.5", Third place went to Milan's B. Billingsley @ 26' 5.5", Allie Linkmeyer earned fourth for SR with a toss of 26' 2.5" and Bree Crabtree rounded out the sixth spot @ 24' 6.5".
The High Jump second place went to Lady Raider Kasey King @ 4' 6", tying in third @ 4' 4" was Lady Eagle's Megan Gunter, Kathy Maloney and Lady Indian Jessica Strassel.
Long Jump action for third place was reached by Kaitlyn Welch @ 13' 0" with Lady Indian Maria Voss earning fourth @ 12' 11". Kasey King of South Ripley ran the 100 Hurdles for second place in :17.+, while teammate Kaitlyn Welch was fourth @ :18.+ and Lady Eagle Ashley Hammond was sixth with a time just under :19.0.
Running for a second place finish in the 100m Dash was Lady Indian Jessica Strassel in :14.0 followed by third place finisher Kasey King of South Ripley @ :14.6. Megan Obermeyer sent the Discus for a winning sling of 75' 7", followed by teammate Megan Hughes throw for third @ 65' 10.25". Lady Indian B. Billingsley managed a third place finish @ 65' 4.25".
South Ripley Lady Raider Holly Keck set a record with her 5:50.6 1600m Run. Kara Wagner of JCD was sixth @ 6:31.9. Tatijana Marsee of the Lady Indians was second in the 400m Dash in 1:09.9 with teammate G. Herzog closing up sixth spot in 1:12.9.
Lady Raider A. Linkmeyer finished third in the 800 Run @ 2:44.8 with Lady Indian runner N. McDonald fifth in 2:51.6.
S. Strassell of Milan won the 200m Dash in :28.9 with Lady Raider Kaitlyn Welch finishing the race for sixth @ :31.2.
The Lady Indian 4x100 Relay team time was good enough for a second place finish @ :57+, but they were disqualified. SR took third in :59+ followed closely by JCD in just under a minute.
The girls' 4x400 Relay found Milan's Lady Indians finishing fourth in 5:00+, with SR and JCD each finishing closely behind them for fifth and sixth place respectively in the 5:00+ time range.

Continuing the strong relay team tradition, Milan Indian Relay Team members pictured from left are: John Herzog, Bret Stites, (Tyler Money - alternate), Jacob White and Cory Strunk. These relay runners won both the '08, 4x100 and the 4x400 ORVC Meet events. Their 4x100 time was :52.0, and their first place time in the 4x400 was 4:11.6.
