“I like it,” said Liz Hall, Milan. The 2002 South Ripley graduate is spending her summer as an intern at the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office. “I’ve learned a lot,” she said.

Hall began her career as an undergraduate at the University of Indianapolis, focusing her studies on law enforcement and psychology. She chose law enforcement because it sounded interesting. Hall credits her advisor at the University of Indiana for encouraging her to go to law school. She is currently enrolled in the Indiana University School of Law studying criminal law, with two years to go.
As an intern, Hall has the opportunity to experience the entire trial process. She assists in the trial preparation as well as writing legal memoranda. “Mr. Hertel does a good job letting me see the whole process from filing the charges to the hearing,” she told The Versailles Republican.

Hall has worked as an intern in other areas of law enforcement. While an undergraduate, she worked as a counselor at the Indiana State Police Respect for Law camp at the Anderson University campus. She also interned at the Marian County Probation office conducting office visits. “It was nice to have experience in both law enforcement and prosecuting,” she said.

Last summer was spent interning at Hill-Rom in the litigation department. “It is great contrast to see the civil side of law,” she shared. There, she would prepare dockets and letters to the insurance companies, along with various other duties.

She has plans to become a criminal lawyer after graduation. “I hope to pass the Indiana Bar, and then practice somewhere in Indiana,” she concluded.

Hall is the daughter of the late Judy Hall and Gary and Angel (Begley) Hall. She has a sister Jennifer and step siblings, Chris, John, Jack, Samantha, Briana, Brittany and Brooke Begley.
