Lakin Davis competes in
Girls Junior State Golf Championship

Junior South Ripley Lady Raider Lakin Davis. found her summers' activities to include competing in the Girls Junior State Golf Championship Tournament held at Columbus. The week long event kicked off on Monday, June 23rd and ran through Friday, June 27th .
The first two days of action, Monday and Tuesday, were stroke play. Davis ended with a total score of 178 for the two days play. On Wednesday the 25th, the tournament shifted gears and competitors were put into flights to begin match play.
Davis won her first match 6:4, advancing her to Thursdays match play competition, where she again won. During Thursday's match, Davis came from two down with two holes to play, to win it in 19 holes.
The win on Thursday morning earned her an afternoon match. In that match Davis won one up after being tied going to the 18th hole. The afternoon win propelled Davis to Friday's third flight championship match action.
On Friday, June 27th, Davis fell short after 19 holes of golf after lipping a putt out to tie. Davis wound up with a second place finish in her flight of the Girls Junior State Golf Championship. NICE JOB LAKIN!!!

Madison Regatta brings excitement to the sky as well as on the River

Attenders of the 57th annual Indiana Governors Cup Madison Regatta found excitement not only on the Ohio River, but in the air above as well, with aerial demonstrations performed by local pilots in their planes.
The festive celebration that annually takes over the town found pageantry on Saturday, June 28, with the crowning of Little Miss Regatta Mallory Besselman, Miss Pre-Teen Regatta Vanesa Artega and Miss Teen Regatta Christin Stoops.
On Monday, June 30, 2008 Hanover College graduate Annamarie Lynn Elmer was crowned Miss Madison Regatta.
The hydroplane time trials was set to begin Saturday, July 5, with first race competition beginning at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, July 6. Heat races were scheduled up to the running for the Governors Cup around 4 PM..
Jeff Bernard aboard the U5 Formulaboats.com entry edged out the Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison for the Governors Cup.
Damage encountered because of the debris in the river caught much attention from hydroplane race officials, pilots and crews.
