Fourth Annual East/West All-Star
Basketball Game results posted

The Fourth Annual East/West All-Star games, which included all four classes of IHSAA boys' and girls' basketball players, was held at New Castle Fieldhouse on Saturday, July 19.
The day's activities opened with Class 2A girls competing. In the opener, the East girls rallied to claim the victory 67-45 over the West. Southwestern Hanover Lady Rebel Devin Brierly was unable to participate in the contest for the East. The Class 2A boys followed with the West winning by an 18 point margin, 82-64.
The Class 4A girls hit the floor playing to a West victory of 73-49, followed by 4A boys action where again the West team prevailed with a 13 point margin at 88-75.
In the Class 3A girls game, the East pulled off a 66-53 win but the West boys prevailed with a final score of 81-72 over the East team.
In the final round of basketball action for the day, the East team which included Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagle graduates Kiersten Young & Kaylin Ploeger and Waldron Lady Mohawks Sharon Jackson & Courtney Sawyer, delivered a 16 point win of 68-44.
In the early going the game was close, tied at different points during the first quarter. That soon fell to the way side as the second half unfolded. The score at the end of the first was East 15-12 West. The halftime score was 31-23. The score after three was 49-34 and ended at 68-44.
Of the eight girls on the East team, Sharon Jackson was high scorer for the game with 18 points. Kiersten Young scored 9, Kaylin Ploeger added 4 and Courtney Sawyer put in 3. The four managed to tally half of the team's total.
In the boys Class 1A contest that followed the girls contest to end the day's event, Jac-Cen-Del Eagle graduate Brandon Gehl, Rising Sun Shiner Myles Hornsby and Oldenburg Academy Twister Jason Eckstein each performed.
The East boys fell to the West team 89-60 by game's end. Eckstein managed to put four points on the score book during the game. With a roster of 14 players on the East team, Gehl and Hornsby held scoreless.
