Ripley hosts first XC meet on newly laid out course

An extensive construction project at South Ripley High School
has necessitated the alteration of their old familiar cross
country course this year.
Coaches Sam Durham and Kendall Sheets have worked hard and accomplished
a new course layout for home meets. The first of which was ran
on Tuesday, September 2. Participating in the meet were the
host Raiders, the Rising Sun Shiners and the Lawrenceburg Tigers.

Ripley County Cross Country Meet held at JCD

Jac-Cen-Del High School hosted
the 2008 Ripley County Cross Country Meet on Thursday evening,
September 4. The JCD cross country course has taken on a different
trail this year, with many finding the trek better than in the
past.
Participating in the meet were the Batesville Bulldogs, the
South Ripley Raiders, the Milan Indians and the hosting Jac-Cen-Del
Eagles.
Girl's Run
In the girls run, the Batesville Lady Bulldog team outpaced
the rest for the team victory. Stacey Gryspeerdt led the way
for first in :20.57. She was closely followed by teammates Ashlee
Maupin (:21.02) and Alexandra Lake (:21.32), with South Ripley
Lady Raider Jenifer Patrick finishing 4th at :21.43. Lady Bulldog
Laurel Washborn crossed the line @ :22.31, followed by Lady
Raider Melanie Berry (:22.39), Lady Bulldog Brittany Brewer
(:22.42, Milan Lady Indian Katie Dickey (:22.54). Lady Bulldog
Hannah Share was 9th at :23.29 with the 10th spot taken by JCD
Lady Eagle Samantha White.
Batesville's Lady Bulldogs were first with 18 points, Jac-Cen-Del's
Lady Eagles second @ 62, South Ripley's Lady Raiders third @
64 with the Milan Lady Indians total @ 84.
Lady Eagles Becca Wagner, Lauren Fennelly and Kara Wagner finished
11th-13th, with Lady Indians Vickie Woolums and exchange student
Katrina Bauer @ 14 & 15. JCD's Kayla Forbes was 16th, followed
by Lady Raiders Jordon Webster, Ashley Benz, Kelly Borders and
Lucy Rohrig, 17-20. Lady Eagles Kathleen Maloney and Valorie
Wagner finished @ 21 & 22 with Lady Indians Samantha Stabile,
Cayla Bowlin and Natilie Strozk claiming 23-25. The final three
spots were taken by Lady Raider Jordan Gardner, Lady Bulldog
Hannah Fox, Lady Indians Shelby Zornes. and Trisha Lauden.
Boy's Run
In the boy's run, the Batesville Bulldog team outpaced the rest
for the team victory. Led by Johnathan Kreleler in :17.18, with
teammates Hayden Merkel @ :1723, Chris Giesting :17.42 and Blake
Coleman :17.47, SR Raider Ben Montgomery finished fifth @ :17.54.
They were followed by Bulldogs Collin Koury and Jarrod Lowery.
Raider Andy Miller, Eagle Derek Lunsford, Bulldog Cody Cavinee,
Raiders Ethan Back and Zach Jines.
Sole Milan Indian boys runner, Nathan Thompson, finished 13th
@ :20.50. The rest of the field finished as follows: Eagles
Brock Shadday, Jim Dobbs, and Kyle Bradley, Raiders Matt Vogel
and Rodney Mathews, Eagles Ethan Hess and Devin Shadday and
South Ripley Raider Brandon Sizemore.
Team scores were: Batesville Bulldogs 16, South Ripley Raiders
52 and the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles 69. The Milan Indians with one
runner had no team score for the boy's meet.
