wins '08 Ripley County Lady Golf Medalist Honor over Davis

Excitement swelled as lady golf competitors Kristen Hicks
of the Jac- Cen-Del Lady Eagles and Lakin Davis of the
South Ripley Lady Raidrs competed hole by hole for the
Medalist Honor of the '08 Ripley County Tourney.
The first nine holes of the tournament were played at
the North Branch Golf Course at New Point, with the last
nine played at Hoosier Links in Milan. The North Branch
nine were played on Tuesday, September 9, with the last
nine at Hoosier Links played on Wednesday, September 10.
After nine holes, the two ladies were tied with 39 strokes
each, leaving their Hoosier Links outing to be the determiner
for a medalist. At Milan, Hicks edged by one stroke less
to take medalist of the Ripley County Tournament. A round
of 43 by Davis was bested by one stroke by Hicks who finished
with a round of 42. A great rivalry and fun competition
made for a fun tournament to witness.
As a team, Batesville won the tournament with an 18 hole
total of 392. Members of the Batesville Lady Bulldog team
included: Brooke Bedel (92), Lawson Sitterding (96), Hannah
Fullenkamp (101), Kelsey Fullenkamp (103) and Taylor Johnson
(121).
The Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles captured second place as a
team with Kristen Hicks (81), Erica Hicks (101), Jaime
Lunsford (110), Samantha Walke (112) and Brooke Gilland
(113).
South Ripley's Lady Raiders finished third as a team.
Members included Lakin Davis (82), Kaitlyn Black (104),
Hannah Carlock (112) and Jessica Osborne (125).
The Milan Lady Indians as a team posted a team total score
of 455. Team members included Alex Poole (98), Emily Jones
(107), Tati Marssee (123) and Samantha Stabile (127).
Coaching the Batesville Lady Bulldogs is Tom Meyer. The
Jac-Cen Del Lady Eagle coach is RuthAnn Peetz. Greg Huntington
is coach for the South Ripley Lady Raiders. The Milan
Lady Indian coach is Michelle Hosmer.
The teams will continue regular season action until their
sectional, which is slated for Saturday, September 20,
at Greensburg.

JCD's XC Invite held on Saturday, September 13 found Brownstown
Central's girls team and Switzerland County boys team
earning top spots on the day.
In the girls 5K run, Brownstown Central collected 41 points,
Switzerland County 77, South Ripley 104, Jac-Cen-Del 111,
South Decatur 112, Rising Sun 132, Southwestern Shelby
158, Milan 171 with Southwestern-Hanover, Shawe Memorial
and Lawrenceburg schools compiling no team score due to
lack of the number of runners required.
The Switzerland County boys team were the heavy favorites
for the meet, and won with 25 points. Following them were:
Brownstown Central @ 50, South Ripley @ 96, Rising Sun
@ 118, Southwestern-Shelby @ 155, Southwestern-Hanover
@ 156, Jac-Cen-Del @ 157, Shawe Memorial @ 164 and South
Decatur @ 169. Lawrenceburg nor Milan had enough runners
for a team score.
Keith Waggoner of Brownstown Central's winning time was
16:57 while Kristi Hamilton of South Decatur outpaced
the girls event to cross the finish line at 21:05.
