As reported by Brad Voss, the Milan Indians won their
first varsity conference football game of the '08 season
last Friday evening, September 19, by a 27 point margin,
34-7. Zak O'Neal, senior running back, led the tribe with

Jared Ison, the Indian quarterback was 8 for 12 in his
passing game for 119 yards including one touchdown pass
to Andrew Perkins for the final TD of the game for the
Indians.
The Indians have rallied to a 3-2 season overall despite
the week two injury to Travis Pennington, junior tailback.
The Indians opened their new season with a 42-0 win over
Northeastern. That was followed by bitter defeats from
Batesville 19-3 and Lawrenceburg 15-0.
Though scoring and defensive opportunities presented themselves,
the Indians could not quite get it together in those two
outings despite their efforts.
During the fourth week of the season, the Indians avenged
a loss from last year to Park Tudor by beating them at
their house 21-7 in an all-around solid game.
Offensively the Indians are led by Zak O'Neal with 458
yards and 8 touchdowns on offense. O'Neal is also the
leading tackler on defense with 21 solo tackles and seven
assists. Jared Ison, Indian senior quarterback, has 391
passing yards and four TD's, Zach Turner, junior Indian
tailback has been solid in the Indian running game with
215 yards as well as nine receptions. Andrew Perkins too
has contributed with six catches (3 TD's) for a total
of 153 yards.
Defensively for the tribe, Nate Haugh, Ben Jackson, Michael
Brandes, Justin Willis, Hunter Storey, Derek Walker, Jared
Ison, Zach Turner, Keith Schornick, Tyler Allen and Zak
O'Neal have all played key roles in the past two week's
games where they have only given up two touchdowns.
Coach Langferman and the Indians will travel to Indian
Creek on Friday, September 26, for conference action.
The Indians hope to avenge their loss to them from the
RCA Dome game played last year. The Indian Creek game
has a scheduled 7 p.m. start time. The Milan Homecoming
game is set for Friday, October 3.
