Switzerland County Pacers win
South Ripley's Great Pumpkin 5K races

Good weather conditions were accomodating for the annual running of the Great Pumpkin 5K race held at SRHS on Wednesday, evening, September 24. This year's race included girl and boy runners from seven schools.
Girls event
Though South Ripley Lady Raider runners, Jenifer Patrick @ 21:56 and Melanie Berry @ 22:29 finished 1st and 2nd, the Switzerland County Lady Pacer team won first place.
Lady Pacer Hinman finished 3rd @ 22:38 with teammates Allie Mathews 6th @ 23:25, Amber Meli 13th @ 24:22, Alexis Carfield 14th @ 24:30, Becca Abbott 15th @ 24:32 and Andrea Brogan 17th @ 24:38.
The South Ripley Lady Raiders finished second in team totals behind Patrick and Berry as Jordon Webster was 23rd @ 26:16, Jessilyn DeWitt 25th @ 26:36 and Kelly Borter 27th@ 27:10. Lucy Rohrig was 28th @ 27:14 and Brittany DeWitt 37th @33:45.
South Dearborn was third with Shelby Vaught 8th @ 23:36, Andrea Cash 9th @ 23:37, Kelsey Barrett 11th @ 23:54, Kelli Vogelsang 16th @ 24:39 and Megan Loveland 21st @ 25:24. Other SD runners were Hannah Martin 24th @ 26:23 and Jessica Langer 32nd @ 28:59.
Finishing fourth was the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagle runners which included Samantha White 4th @ 23:18, Kayla Forbes 18th @ 25:10, Kara Wagner 20th @ 25:19, Lauren Fennelly 26th @ 27:04, Valorie & Becca Wagner 29th & 30th @ 27:49. Kathleen Maloney finished 36th @ 31:07.
Fifth place was the Milan Lady Indians. Runners included Katie Dickey 10th @ 23:38, Vicki Woulms 12th @ 24:06, Samantha Stabile @ 31st @ 28:02, Cayla Bowling 34th @ 30:40 and Natalie Strzok 35th @ 30:54. Shelby Zornes finished 38th @ 36:44 and Trisha Louden 39th @ 37:19.
The Rising Sun Lady Shiner runners were Caitlyn Bowman 5th @ 23:21, Chelsea Bowman 7th @ 23:35 and Courtney Lamkin 22nd @ 25:32.
For 19th, Sarah Joslin of Shawe finished @ 25:16 while teammate Chloe Storm finished 33rd @ 29:01.
Boys event
The Switzerland County Pacers won the boys team event behind first through third place runners Clay Meyer, Carey McFarland and Tray Meyer. Their times were 17:25, 17:49 and 18:03 respectively. The other Pacer runners and their times were: Anthony Dennis 11th @ 19:05, Quin Meyer 17th @ 20:10 and Tanner Ross 18th @ 20:16.
The South Ripley Raiders finished second in team totals behind Ben Montgomery's 5th place effort @ 18:31 and Andy Miller's 7th place finish @ 18:36. Other Raider runners and their times were: Ethan Back 13th @ 19:28, Zach Jines 15th @ 19:45 Jerad Walters 16th @ 20:03. Seth Leonard crossed the finish line for 22nd @ 20:58 and Matt Vogel 30th @ 21:49..
South Dearborn was third with Casey Weber finishing 8th @ 18:43. Casey Gilmore 9th @ 18:53, Keenan Fryman 12th @ 19:09, Keenan McCabe 19th @ 20:19 and Jimmy Kemper 20th @ 20:20.
Finishing fourth was the Rising Sun Shiners. Runners included Anthony Nierlich 4th @ 18:04, Adam Hummel 6th @ 18:32, Terry Grace 29th @ 21:48, Tyler Hannah 36th @ 23:04 and Austin Gore 37th @ 23:21.
For fifth place was the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. Runners included Derek Lunsford who finished 14th @ 19:33. Also running were: Jim Dobbs 21st @ 20:21, Devin Shadday 24th @ 21:16, Brock Shadday 27th @ 21:44, Kyle Bradley 33rd @ 22:32 and Ethan Hess 34th @ 22:44.
The Milan Indians finished sixth. Their runners included: Nick Walter 23rd @ 21:00, Alex Walter 26th @ 21:40, Nathan Thompson 28th @ 21:45, Robby Shannon 31st @ 21:50 and Quintin Hackman 38th @ 33:49.
Madison Shawe fielded only three runners for an incomplete team to score. They were: Campbell Higbie's 10th place finish @ 18:59. Jonas Leatherman 32nd @ 21:54 and Jordan Bear 35th @ 23:02.

'08 Girls Soccer Sectional #27 set

The Girls IHSAA Soccer Sectional will be hosted by Columbus North High School and be played at the Richard Wigh Soccer Center.
Participating schools are: Columbus East, Columbus North, Greensburg, Jennings County, Madison Consolidated, Seymour and South Ripley.
Game one is on Monday, October 13 at 6 p.m. with Columbus North playing Jennings County.
Game two is on Tuesday, October 14 and finds the South Ripley Lady Raiders competing against the Greensburg Lady Pirates with a 5:30 p.m. game start time.
Alo slated for Tuesday evening approximately 20 minutes following the conclusion of the opening game, Game three pits Columbus East against Madison Consolidated.
Thursday's first game on October 16, is set for competition between Seymour and the winner of game one. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
Approximately 20 minutes following the conclusion of the opener, game five will be between the two winners from Tuesday evening's matches.
The championship will be played on Saturday, October18 with a 7 p.m. starting time.
Admission is $5. per session or $8. for a tournament ticket. Concessions are available.
Parking is adjacent to the Soccer Center.
