project bids awarded
for the Milan Elementary School remodeling project were awarded
at the regular meeting of the Milan School Board on Monday, February
22. The motion to award the bids pending the bond sale on March
1 was unanimously approved.
The general trades bid was awarded to J.B. Schmitt Co., Inc.;
mechanical bid went to Three Rivers Sheet Metal, Inc.; electrical
to Nading Mechanical; roofing to Kerkan Roofing, Inc.; and masonry
to Teton Corporation.
The board unanimously approved the motion to authorize Interim
Superintendent Steve Gookins to approve any change orders during
Due to students missing seven days due to the snow, the last student
day will be June 1 according to Gookins. Gookins also suggested
moving the graduation ceremony to the following week in order
for the seniors to fulfill the state requirement to attend 180
days. Another option is to hold the ceremony without presenting
the diplomas and bringing seniors back to finish the last week
of school. This matter will be considered by the board for a decision
at a later meeting.
Extra-curricular recommendations approved included Milton Teer,
varsity softball coach; Jeff Stutler, varsity baseball coach;
Yatzie Roysden, reserve softball coach; and Laitham Louthern,
reserve baseball coach.
Christine Wilhelms request for maternity leave starting
on April 15 was approved. The motion to approve Brianna Kraushar
as a home bound instructor was unanimous.
Board president Tim Tuttle announced that Gookins will continue
as Interim Superintendent for the 2010-2011 school year.
