B'ville woman faces up to 23 years for burglary

Christina M. West, 24, of Batesville, has been arrested for residential burglary, according to information from Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt.

Last Monday, July 19 the Batesville Police Department received a report of residential burglary at 829 South Park Avenue in Batesville.

Terry Groppenbecker reported his residence was broken into the night of July 18. He reported that prescription medication had been stolen, along with alcohol.

Detective Mike Benjamin, Major Jeff Thielking and Crime Scene Technician Jerry Taul responded to the call to investigate.

After police interviewed several witnesses and located evidence at the scene, they focused on West. She was brought in for questioning the same day of the report.

West was arrested for Residential Burglary, a Class B Felony and Theft, a Class D Felony. She was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail.

Chief Holt noted if West is convicted of the crimes, she could face up to 23 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
