first state show of 'The Indiana A-C Partners'
F.A.R.M. show set for weekend
Wanda English Burnett
the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood will be buzzing with excitement
as the S.E. Indiana F.A.R.M. Club will hold their Antique Machinery
Show June 24, 25 and 26. This year will feature everything
Allis as Allis-Chalmers machinery will be featured.
The club will be hosting the first State show for The Indiana
A-C partners, according to information from Chris Schmaltz of
Milan, who is involved with the club.
Schmaltz noted there will be people from all over the state at
the event where tractors, implements and lawn and garden equipment
will feature Allis-Chalmers.
The F.A.R.M. Club show is not limited to Allis-Chalmers equipment.
There will be a variety of displays as members bring various steam
engines and more. Plans are to have threshing, a hay press, sawmill,
working blacksmith, corn shredding, and more.
Schmaltz noted that anyone with a love of preserving the past
is invited to become a part of the club. We welcome new
members, he told the Osgood Journal. The club is about keeping
history alive. You dont have to own anything antique
to be a member, he continued.
The show has grown with this being the sixth year they have been
at the Osgood location. This year new aluminum bleachers were
purchased thanks to a grant from the Ripley County Community Foundation.
These will be very nice, noted Schmaltz, who said
the bleachers will be in place to benefit others in the community.
Schmaltz invites the public to the event saying the exhibits
are a learning experience. From children to the oldest person
attending, people always enjoy seeing how things used to be, according
to Schmaltz. There is great food available at the show where the
F.A.R.M. Clubs famous kettle cooked bean soup will be offered.
There will be a Parade of Power through downtown Osgood on Saturday
at 1 p.m. A kids pedal pull, pickin and grinin jam session
(all pickers welcome), a tradin post consignment barn, swap
meet, antique and flea market and craft vendors will also be part
of the three-day event where admission is free. There is a parking
charge of just $2.00 and admission charge for grandstand events.
Grandstand events will include the second annual Lawn Mower Demo
Derby, sponsored by TE Promotions on Friday night at 8 p.m. This
is a must see event! Call Terry at 812-871-7728 for more information.
Then, on Saturday, the Osgood Fire Department and Singer Sled
Rentals will present Summer Thunder tractor and diesel
truck pull at 7 p.m., another exciting event. Call Scott at 812-621-0371
for more information.
Sunday a Full Pull Sled Antique Tractor Pull event will take place
at 1 p.m. You can contact Kevin at 812-756-0158 for more information
on this event, which has proved to be popular.
