South Ripley Superintendent Dr. John Mehrle is pleased to announce
that South Ripley High School will be the site of the Southeastern
EcO15 Talent Showcase this Thursday, October 27 from 4-7 p.m.
This event will highlight projects that drive our local economies,
according to the superintendent.
It is an honor for South Ripley to be selected to host
this regional event, Dr. Mehrle told the Osgood Journal.
He said the school was selected to host the Showcase due to
its central location, new facilities, and because of the project
based initiatives that have been implemented in recent years.
South Ripley has made a concerted effort to integrate
its fifth through eighth grade curriculum with technology and
project based learning, Dr. Mehrle noted.
The Showcase includes Bud Walther, EcO15 chairperson; Vince
Bertram, Project Lead the Way CEO; Kris Kindelsperger of Johnson,
Grossnickel & Associates executive consultant; Laura Littlepage,
I.U. Public Policy Institute Clinical Lecturer; and John Burnett
EcO15 Regional Council member as speakers for the evening.
Governor Mitch Daniels and Secretary of Education Dr. Tony Bennett
have been invited to the Showcase with schools from a ten county
region participating. The public is encouraged to attend to
find out what those coordinating the event are so excited about.
This event will highlight the talent of Southeast Indianas
future work force. Those attending will benefit from a unique
combination of presentations and student demonstrations. They
will hear from the above speakers, see faculty, students and
the regions hospital representatives conduct live demonstrations
using high-fidelity simulation mannequins via ambulance and
