Dale E. Wendelman, 80, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, December
24, 2011 at the Dillsboro Manor. He was born near Manchester in
Dearborn County on May 17, 1931 the son of Milton and Marie Lattire
Wendelman. He was married to Verneda Cook on September 7, 1957
and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Kim (John) Ascherman of
Aurora and grandchildren Kyle and Hannah Ascherman. He was preceded
in death by his parents.
Mr. Wendelman was a 1951 graduate of Milan High School and was
an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former bus driver
for the South Dearborn School system, operated Dillsboro Floral
from 1954 to 1970, and also Wendelmans Sound and Lighting
Service in Dillsboro since 1954.
Dale was a member of the Chapter 4 Veterans of the Korean War
in Aurora, was a former member of the Dillsboro Fire Department
and was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion. He helped organize
and was past president of the Dillsboro Civic Club and the Dillsboro
Life Squad. He also had served as past president of the South
Dearborn Music Boosters and was president for the reorganization
of the Dearborn County Fair.
Mr. Wendelman was a member of the Indiana Association of County
and District Fairs where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame
in 1993 and was named Member of the Year in 1998.
Funeral services will be held today, December 29 at 11 a.m. at
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in
the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery at Stumpkes Corner
with military graveside rites by the Korean War Veterans of Aurora.
Memorials may be given to the Dillsboro Civic Clubs Christmas
Street Light fund in care of the funeral home.

Edna T. Bedel, 93, of Batesville died Saturday, December 24, 2011
at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Funeral services
were held Thursday, December 29 at St. Louis Catholic Church in
Batesville with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial followed
in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Batesville

Leona M. Moorman
Leona M. Moorman, 99, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, December
27, 2011 at the Waters of Batesville. Visitation will be held
today, Thursday, December 29 from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home,
Batesville. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30
at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris with Rev.
Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Patsy R. Whitehead
Patsy R. Whitehead, 75, of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, December
27, 2011 at 8:35 a.m. at her residence. She was born on July 21,
1936 in Belgrade, Nebraska, the daughter of Samuel Franklin Wiley
and Thelma Lucille (Wolf) Wiley Gray. She was raised west of Letts
and has been a Westport resident since 1968.
She attended Jackson Township High School. She enjoyed family
activities and gatherings. Her hobbies included reading, doing
crossword puzzles, solitaire, gin rummy, antiquing and her cat.
She married Charles C. Whitehead in North Vernon on November 24,
1954. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2011.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca (Robert) Low of Versailles
and Roberta (Mark) Taylor of Westport; her brothers, Richard Gray
of Orlando, Florida and Thomas (Sheila) Gray of Columbus; her
seven grandchildren and her eight great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her father, Samuel Franklin Wiley; her mother,
Thelma Lucille Wiley Gray; her stepfather, Donald W. Gray; her
husband, Charles Whitehead and her brother, Donald "Sonny"
After cremation, private graveside services will be held for the
family at the Westport Cemetery with Rev. Steve Malone officiating.

the Westport Volunteer Fire Department or the Westport Library.

Terry W. Walston
Terry W. Walston, 58, of Dillsboro, passed away Tuesday, December
27, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1953 in Dearborn
County the son of Marvin Walston and Mary Fogel Walston. He was
a lifelong resident of the area.
Mr. Walston was a truck driver for Greens Fuel and Supply until
his illness forced his retirement several years ago. He served
his country for a period of time in the US Army. He loved fishing
and was a collector of everything. He considered himself an amateur
Mr. Walston was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers,
Larry and Cecil Walston.
Survivors include his son, Josh (Jennifer) Lowe of Aurora; two
daughters, Joanna (Juan Carlos) Negron of Milan and Michelle Walston
of Harrison; one brother, Gary (Star) Walston of Milan; one sister,
Roberta (Bill) Robertson of Sunman; nine grandchildren, Jordan,
Josh, Destiny, Montana, Alexis, Maddix, Alex, Joey and Blake and
two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30 at 7 p.m. at
Hope Baptist Church on US50 in Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Holt
officiating. Friends may meet his family on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
at the church.

Mary Ellen Brockschmidt
Mary Ellen Brockschmidt, age 94, a resident of Valparaiso and
formerly of Versailles, passed away on Wednesday, December 21,
2011. She was born on November 14, 1917 in Newport, Kentucky,
the daughter of Albert and Margaret Reedy. Mary Ellen was married
to Alvin J. Brockschmidt on July 1, 1950 in Newport and he preceded
her in death on April 5, 1989.
Mary Ellen had worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Bill Jensen
for ten years. She was a former member of St. Bridgets and
a current member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Mary Ellen
attended Saint Agnes Center and her great joys were reading, cooking,
and taking care of her family.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Crisman of Versailles, Ellen
(Randy) Polk of Valparaiso, Celeste (Paul) Rose of Huancayo, Peru,
Jane (Karl) Feldhaus of Holton; grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer)
Crisman, Kathy (Jon) Boyd, Daniel (Kelli) Rose, Kathy Ellen (Daniel)
Matsuda, James Rose, Joseph Rose, Grace Rose, Andrea Rose, Lisa
Raab, Zachary Raab, and Jonathan Raab; great-grandchildren, Aiden
Boyd, Vera Rose, Andy Matsuda, and Katie Matsuda; her sister,
Sister Celeste Reedy of Nazareth, Kentucky; and other loving family
and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband
Alvin Brockschmidt, brothers Father John Reedy, and Albert Reedy,
son-in-law Bill Crisman, and grandson Andrew Rose.
A visitation for Mary Ellen Brockschmidt was held on Friday, December

Lorraine M. Palmer, 68, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Friday, December
16, 2011. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 27,
at 7 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home, in Dillsboro. The family
will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Robert W. Curry Sr.
Robert W. Curry Sr., 92, of North Vernon passed away on Thursday,
December 1, 2011, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour with his
family by his side. He was born March 6, 1919 in Rexville, the
son of the late Clyde B. and Mabel Armstrong Curry.
Robert graduated from Versailles High School in 1938 where he
was a star basketball player for the Versailles Frenchies. At
the age of 22, Robert enlisted in the United States Army on January
12, 1942. He married Genevieve McNeelan on August 18, 1942 at
the Little Church Around The Corner in New York City, New York.
He served his country in World War II as part of the 88th Calvary
Reconnaissance Squadron with whom he was shipped to England and
later advanced through the Rhineland, Central Europe, and the
Ardennes. His unit was briefly attached to the Third Army. Bob
had the honor of being chosen as a special guard for General Patton
who visited their unit. Sgt. Curry received the Purple Heart for
wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge while serving in
Germany. He also received EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars,
American Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct
Medal. Bob was discharged on November 18, 1945.
Mr. Curry retired from Prudential Insurance where he had been
an agent for 33 years. He was mayor of the city of North Vernon
from 1980 until 1988. He was a member of the North Vernon United
Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Administrative
Bob had served his community as a member of the Jennings County
Health Board, the Jennings County Alcoholic Beverage Commission,
and the Aging & Community Service Board. He was also a member
of the Scottish Rite, Shrine Club, North Vernon Masonic Lodge
#59, Matt Hester Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2021 and was a
life member of the Versailles American Legion Post 173.
He enjoyed all sports especially Indiana University and Purdue
Basketball and Colts Football, playing golf, serving his community,
and most of all, spending time with his family.
Mr. Curry is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Genevieve
of North Vernon; a son, Robert Curry Jr. and his wife Sherry of
North Vernon; a daughter, Margie Willman and her husband Rodney
of Seymour; a sister, Jo Westmeyer of Versailles; three grandchildren,
Mark Curry, Ryan Curry, and Jenny Curry, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Halstead Curry and three
sisters, Clarabelle Vestal, Dorothy Cromer, and Isabelle Heidorn.
A funeral service was held December 7 at the First United Methodist
Church in North Vernon with Reverends Marvin Sweet and Joe Wyatt
officiating. Burial was at Vernon Cemetery with military honors
provided by the United States Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
2021, and Versailles American Legion Post 173.

Teresa Ann Fette
Teresa Ann Fette, 57, of Dillsboro, passed away Monday morning,
December 5, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family. Teresa
was born November 3, 1954 in Seymour, the daughter of Cranston
Watson and Dorothy Murphy Watson. She married Larry Fette on November
21, 1992, and they have shared many wonderful years together.
Teresa was employed as a bank teller for 30 years, the last several
being with Friendship State Bank in Dillsboro. She loved flowers,
gardening and traveling. The number one thing she loved to do
was shop and she was shopping just a few days before her death.
Her husband, children and grandchildren were a real delight in
her life. Recently she took a trip to Disney World with her daughter
and grandchildren; a trip that her daughter will never forget.
Teresa was a member of the Church of Christ in Westchester, Ohio,
and attended the Versailles Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her parents, Cranston and
Dorothy Watson; two daughters, Kimberly (Shawn) Day and Stacie
(Gus) Callen, both of Burlington, KY; two grandchildren, Riley
Grace Callen and Gabriel A. Callen; two brothers, Keith Watson
of Moores Hill and Jeff Watson of Manchester; two sisters, Beverly
Morris of Batesville and Lisa Dyer of Greendale.
The funeral services for Teresa are being held today, Thursday,
at 1:30 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro, with Pastor John
Brewer officiating. Friends may meet her family at Oakdale Cemetery
from 1 p.m. until service time. The family prefers memorials be
given to an educational trust fund that has been set up at the
Friendship State Bank in Dillsboro for her two grandchildren,
Riley and Gabriel Callen.

4, 2011 in London, Ohio. She was born April 30, 1958 in Salina,
KS, the daughter of Thomas W. and Thelma R. (Somers) Sanders.
Tami had formerly been a critical care nurse at the Erlanger Medical
Center in Chattanooga, TN.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Walker and grandson, Joshua
Lewis of Versailles; brothers, Thomas C. Sanders and his partner
Mark Duffy of London, OH and Troy and his wife Rosa Sanders of
Hixson, TN; nieces and nephews, Rachel (Jesse) Helmers, Megan
(Emilio) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Sanders, Austin Sanders, Ryan Sanders
and Kyle Sanders; several great nieces and great nephews; aunts
and uncles, Shirley (Eugene) Wilson, Nancy Graham and Jim Somers;
and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom
and Thelma Sanders.

Lou Ellen Geabes, 82, of Seymour, passed away Monday, December

was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on September 5, 1929, the daughter
of Raymond Sr. and Lula Oaks Sanders. She was married to George
Geabes on November 21, 1952 and he preceded her in death on November
