Russel M. Sailing
Russel M. Sailing, 75, of Horse Shoe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Elizabeth House on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was born in Caldwell, OH on September 2, 1937.
Russel was a veteran of the U.S. Army attaining the rank of first lieutenant. In 1960 he graduated from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH). He worked as an accountant/manager for the Chevrolet Motor Division in Ohio and Michigan for 34 years.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Freeman Sailing, and daughter, Roberta; brothers, Ronald and Roger Sailing and brother-in-law, Lloyd Freeman of Milan. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edgar and Edna Sailing, and sister, Marleen Oswald.
Russel was a communicant at Immaculate Conception in Hendersonville, NC. He was an avid sports fan and dedicated viewer of Gunsmoke. He enjoyed his poker club and his travels, especially to Australia and our national parks.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mud Pike Cemetery in Osgood, with Rev. Jack Bible officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Milan American Legion. Services are entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison Street in Shelbyville.

Donald G. Bentley
Donald G. "Don" Bentley, 70, of Madison, passed away Fri., Nov. 16, 2012 at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1942 in Madison, the son of C. Risk and Opal L. Anderson Bentley. He married Connie L. Ferris Bentley on January 6, 1962 in Sullivan, Indiana and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Donald A. and wife Wendy of Madison, James D. and wife Melissa of Hanover, Gregory A. and wife Jessica of Versailles; one brother, David R. Bentley and wife Alice of Little Mountain, S.C.; one sister, Carol Ann Barr of Versailles; uncle, Roy T. Bentley of Madison; aunt, Mary Ruth Combs Waltz and husband Charles of Columbus; grandchildren Donald A., Jr., Darin C., Corey L., Colin C. Bentley; Amber F. Smith; Camden Bentley; Calyb Bentley, Andrew Haltom, Brandon and Stephanie Goldsmith; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Bentley was a 1960 graduate of Madison High School. He was employed for 30 years as a machinist with Cummins Engine Company and worked at the Seymour and Holset Madison plants. He was a member of the CAM Car Club and was a faithful member of the Rivervalley Community Church.
Funeral services will be held today, Tues., Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at the North Madison Christian Church with Pastors Bill Maginn and David R. Bentley officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery near Madison.
Memorial contributions may be made to the RIvervalley Community Church building fund.

Vernon Cornett, 83, of New Point, passed away Sat., Nov. 17, 2012. Visitation will be held Fri., Nov. 23 from 5-8 p.m. at the New Point Christian Church. Janet Kay Kruse
Janet Kay Kruse, 69, of Batesville, passed away, Wed., Nov. 14, 2012 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born January 12, 1943 in Fort Wayne the daughter of Robert and Reuth Greub. She married James Kruse on August 5, 1967 in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Kruse graduated from Ball State University and was an educator/school principal for Jac-Cen-Del school system. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, where she also served as the church secretary and treasurer for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, crafting, reading and volunteering in her community and just recently worked at the 2012 election polls.
Mrs. Kruse is survived by nieces and nephews: Diane and Jim Buffenbarger and their children, Cole and Mallory; Laura and KC Laubacher and their children, Seth, Rachael, Gretchen, and Jake; Christopher and Lisa Olney and their children, Emily and Conner; Jennifer and Ted Zahn; and Nathan Kruse. She is also survived by Barbara and Allen Olney, Kenneth and Barbara Kruse, Joanne Grueb and very good friend Clarence "Bud" McGowan.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Jim Kruse; brother, Ronald Grueb; sister, Barbara Grueb and nephew, Jefferey Grueb, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Sun., Nov. 18 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, with Rev. Chad Adamik officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul's church cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Ripley County Community Foundation.

Edwin Sizemore, 70, of Versailles, passed away Wed., Nov. 13, 2012 at his winter home in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born at Manchester in Clay County, Kentucky on July 26, 1942, the son of Craft and Susie Britton Sizemore. He married Lula Reed on June 29, 1962 and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Peggy (Jim) Fear of Versailles; grandson, Michael Fear of Versailles; two sisters, Ruth Hull of Holton and Marlene (Lowell) Jones of Sebring, Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents and his nephew Mark Hull preceded him in death.
Mr. Sizemore was a 1960 graduate of Holton High School. He was a retired farmer and had operated Sizemore's Farm Equipment in Holton. Along with his wife he owned and operated E & L Auto Parts.
Edwin was a member of the Butlerville Mennonite Church, the Holton Masonic Lodge and the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Butlerville Mennonite Church with Pastor Dale Boyd officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Graham Creek Elementary School PTO for the purchase of computers, the Butlerville Mennonite Church or to the Holton Cemetery in care of Stratton Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Richard A. Brown, 91, of Aurora, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 9, 2012 of accidental injuries. Visitation hours will be Thursday, November 15 at Dearborn Baptist Church from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at the church. Carolyn Davies, 65, of Dillsboro, passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, November 10, 2012 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on August 6, 1947 in Vanceburg, KY, the daughter of Oathi Thoroughman and Mary Trout Thoroughman.
Carolyn worked hard her entire life, and was a loving and dedicated mother of four children. She had many hobbies; among them were gardening, quilting and canning.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Gray and Peggy (Paul) Bruner; five grandchildren, Joseph Gray, Andrew, Jonathan, Matthew and Adam Bruner; one great grandchild, Brayden Weller; and her sister, Betty Hicks. She was preceded in death by two sons, Allen Carrington and Randy Carrington and her parents.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 14 at 12 noon at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Visitation will also be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be given to the Dillsboro Life Squad. DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, is entrusted with arrangements.

Andrew Jacob Charles Gress
Andrew Jacob Charles Gress, 23, of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 from injuries of an auto accident. Andrew was born March 16, 1989 in Batesville, the son of Andrew and Pamela (Driver) Gress.
Andrew was an employee of both MSNJ Machine and UPS. He was a member of the Washington Baptist Church at Elrod and loved hunting, camping, wrestling, working out, and time with his family. He was a hard worker and a great guy to be around.
Survivors include his parents, Andrew and Pamela Gress of Dillsboro; maternal grandfather, Marvin Driver of North Vernon; and paternal grandfather, Roland Gress of Dillsboro; sisters, Jessica (Israel) Burkett of Versailles and Kaitlyn Gress of Dillsboro; two nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Elaine A. (Jones) Sensenig
Elaine A. Sensenig, 73 of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at her home. She was born on August 1, 1939 in Knox County, KY, the daughter of Arnold and Alta Jones.
Elaine was a 1958 graduate of Holton High School and worked for 24 years in packaging at James River. On August 27, 1968 she married Lester Sensenig in Versailles and he survives.
Other survivors include one son: Mark Edmundson of North Vernon; sisters: Kitty (Jim) Busteed of Versailles, Una Mae (John) Engel of Charlottesville, NC, Geneva Langdon of Marietta, GA, Janette (Bob) Bramell of Westchester, OH, Jeanie (Rick) Ballard of Avon, Christine Jones of Carmel, and Sue Ann (Greg) Goffe of Kettering, OH; one brother: Jason (Judy) Jones of Greensburg; grandchildren: Dianna, Kara, Ryan, Douglas, Robert, and Riley Edmondson; and great grandchildren: Helna, Kenzie and Kailey Edmundson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Rodney Scott Sensenig and Mike Edmundson, her sister Lovella Jewel, her brother Randall Jones, and brother-in-law Chuck Langdon.
Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, November 10 at the South Park Cemetery, Greensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Gilland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, was in charge of arrangements.
Angela Mitchell Sharp
Angela Mitchell Sharp, 55, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Martin in Floyd County, Kentucky on January 21, 1957, the daughter of Howard and Lola Newsome Mitchell. She was married to Gene Sharp on June 10, 1998 and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother Lola Mitchell of Versailles; daughter Tammy (Larry) Witte of Dillsboro; stepson Jason Sharp of Seymour; grandchildren Sierra and Hunter Witte; step grandchildren; two sisters Donetta (Jim) Benham and Melissa (Kurt) Dunagan both of Benham. She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Sharp was a 1975 graduate of South Ripley High School. Angela was a former employee of Ohio Rod in Versailles, Valeo in Greensburg, and was currently employed with the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 10 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
Robert H. Shaw
Robert H. Shaw, 68, of Moores Hill, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Holton on January 23, 1944, the son of Leslie and Ethel Mercer Shaw. He was married to Alice Elston on February 6, 1963 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Robert J. (Lori) Shaw of Moores Hill; one daughter, Sheila (Mark) Washburn of New Point; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild, and one great grandchild; and one brother, Donald (Doris) Shaw of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Gene and David Roy Shaw.
Mr. Shaw was a retired utility operator for Batesville Casket and was a former employee of Thompson Industries in North Vernon, US Shoe in Osgood, and Daniel and Hayden Electric in Columbus.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 11 a.m. at the Otter Creek Cemetery in Nebraska. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Earl G. Sommer
Earl G. Sommer, 91, of Bear Branch, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born on September 22, 1921, the son of Henry and Adelia (Longcamp) Sommer in Bear Branch.
Earl attended school at Carpenter-Mt. Hebron near Bear Branch. He graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1938. After graduation, he worked at Seagram's, then he was called to serve his country during WWII in August of 1942.
Earl received his training in Army Air Force in Utah, New Mexico and Washington. In early 1943 he was sent to the C.B.I. Combat Unit in India. He was promoted to Sgt., received several medals, and at the end of the war was honorably discharged in November of 1945.
On April 27, 1946, he married Aldine Vinup at St. Peter Lutheran Church by Pastor Henry Wolber. To this union a daughter, Barbara, and a son, Robert, were born. They made their home on a farm near Bear Branch, where they lived all their lives.
In 1956, Earl went to work at the Texas Gas Transmission Station and was employed there 28 years before he retired in 1984. Earl was a member of the Bear Branch Vol. Fire Dept., the American Legion Post 292 in Dillsboro, and a life-long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bear Branch.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred; two sisters, Esther and Juanita; one nephew, one niece and four brothers-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Aldine; his daughter, Barbara (Gary) Bedel of Batesville; son, Robert of Bear Branch; four grandchildren: Jeff (Carrie) Bedel, Lisa (Brian) Adams, all of Batesville, Brian Sommer of Lawrenceburg and Jason (Andrea) Sommer of Fishers; six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bear Branch, with Pastor Pamela Thiede officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Dillsboro American Legion Post 292. Memorials may be given to the St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mary Ann Patterson
Mary Ann Patterson, 94 of Osgood passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood where she had been a resident for more than 30 years. Mary Ann was born in Matthews, Ind., on Oct 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles L. and Emma Walters Patterson.
Survivors include sisters, Pat Herron and Colleen (Harold) Zollman of Hope; nephews, Dennis (Linda) Herron and Joe Willock of Hope, David (Judy) Herron of Atlanta, GA., and Kevin (Stephanie) Bishop of Columbus; nieces, Dawn (Steve) Wilson and Dana (Mike) DeBaun of Hope and Jackie Bishop of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Phillip Patterson.
Even though Mary Ann had physical limitations, her friends and caregivers made it possible for her to attend church services in Versailles and to work at New Horizons in Batesville. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A family graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Matthews Cemetery in Grant Co. There will be no viewing hours. Norman Funeral Home in Hope is in charge of arrangements.
