Elda Gail Boone

Elda Gail Boone, 100, of Milan, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Morristown Manor in Morristown. Gail was born Tuesday, May 20, 1913, in Sparta Township, Dearborn County, the daughter of Edwin LeRoy and Bessie Grimsley Canfield. She married Howard D. Boone August 26, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1996.

Gail graduated from Moores Hill High School and later from Hanover College receiving her teaching degree. She was a retired school teacher at Milan Elementary for 31 years. She was a member of the Moores Hill United Methodist Church, where she had been a choir member and pianist for many years; the Indiana State Teachers Association; and the National Retired Teachers Association.

Gail is survived by daughters Deanna G. DeMotte of Milan and Deveta Joy (Jerry) Caplinger of Shelbyville, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Canfield DeMotte (Buddy) Boone on 9-11-2001.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at the Moores Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Ted Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Larry Wayne “Bubba” Dunlap, 66, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Funeral services were held at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison on Sunday, Nov. 17.
