Take a beautiful, scenic fall drive, four miles west of Dillsboro on SR 62 in Farmers Retreat. Visit a completely restored, one-room schoolhouse museum. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, it was restored in 1950 and built in 1888. We invite fourth grade teachers to bring their students for field trips, or any other groups. Join the Osgood Public Library for a free seven-week storytime session running each Monday at 4 p.m. This Wild West storytime session runs through Monday, Oct. 27. Storytime is for ages 2-7. The Versailles Pumpkin Show will be held from Wednesday, Sept. 24 to Sunday, Sept. 28, on the Courthouse Square located on Main Street in Versailles with exhibits, food, free entertainment, contests, art show, music and more. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. Hours are 5-10 p.m. nightly and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. There is no admission charge. Support the Milan Middle School PTO fundraiser this school year as they will be collecting aluminum cans, box tops and Campbell’s soup labels. Drop-off will be Friday, Sept. 26 from 8-9 a.m. in the Middle School Gymnasium parking lot. All proceeds benefit student activities.

The 11th Annual Friendship Village Festival will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the NMLRA Education Building in Friendship. The festival is sponsored by the Friendship Village Association.

The Ripley County Annual 10K (6 mile) Crop Walk Ending Hunger one step at a time will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Milan. Registration time is 12:30 p.m. at Milan First Baptist Church. The walk will start at Milan First Baptist Church and finish at Milan United Methodist Church. Registration begins at 12:30 and the walk is at 1:30. Back Door Friends in Faith is an outreach program of Tyson United Methodist Church. On the third Saturday of each month, residents from the South Ripley and Jac-Cen-Del school districts are invited to come and receive needed household items that cannot be obtained through the food stamp program. First time participants must bring a photo ID and proof of address. All items are free. Anyone wishing to donate items for distribution can drop off donations at the Annex, 107 N.
