Milan Legion bluegrass show
The Milan American Legion will host a Bluegrass show on Saturday, Aug. 30. Music starts at noon at Milan Legion Park on State Road 350. Tickets are available at The Milan Legion, Milan Reservation and Benny’s in Batesville. For more information, call 812-584-7384.

Friendship Vol. Fire Dept. celebration
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Friendship firehouse beginning at 2 p.m. Special speakers include Indiana State Rep. Randy Frye. There will be exhibits and activities for children. A dinner will be served at 4 p.m. (freewill offering) followed by a dance from 7-11 p.m. with the music of Centerline. Come and celebrate this milestone. Everyone is welcome.

St. Anthony’s Labor Day festival

Napoleon Senior Community Club
The Napoleon Senior Community Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. Bring a covered dish and table service. Bring food for the pantry and bingo.

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Napoleon will have a coffee social with a full menu on Thursday, Sept. 4. Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Carry-outs are available. There is a per-person charge.

Versailles ‘Cruising the Square’
Main Street Versailles presents a “Cruise In” Saturday, Sept. 6 from 3-7 p.m. in downtown Versailles. Prizes will be given away at least every 30 minutes. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and visit while enjoying the music provided by DJs Fast Eddie and Jay Gay heart.. Food will be available.

24 Hours of DINO
There will be 24 Hours of DINO, mountain bikes relay and solo racing at the Versailles State Park located at 1387 E. US Highway 50 in Versailles on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7 for six, 12 or 24 hour divisions. Race starts at noon, and there is a registration charge. Milan Basketball Golf Scramble

The 31st annual Milan Basketball Golf Scramble will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Hoosier Links Golf Club located at 488 N. Country Club Dr. in Milan. Shot-gun starts at 8 a.m. There is an entry fee per player and/or for team. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded. St. John’s (Napoleon) ice cream social
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon will be sponsoring a homemade ice cream social along with a full menu on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 4-7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Alan Crum.

NAMI education program
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will offer a NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program starting Monday, Sept. 8 from 6:30-9 p.m. A series of 12 weekly classes will be held at Milan Christian Church. The Ripley County Democrats will meet Tuesday, September 9 at the Osgood Grub Company. St. Maurice three-day mission
A three-day parish mission entitled “Responding to the Holy Spirit in the Soul, in the Church, and in the World” will be hosted by St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon from Sunday, Sept. 14 through Tuesday, Sept. 16. The event will be conducted by Paulist Priest Fr. Bruce Nieli of Austin, Texas. Fr. Nieli’s talks are scheduled at 7 p.m. each evening. Refreshments will follow. All are invited to attend.

Delaware UMC homecoming
The Delaware United Methodist Church will hold its 76th homecoming at the church on Sunday, Sept. 14. A pitch-in dinner will be served at noon and the program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Worship will be conducted by Pastor Tommy Beatley with special music by Safe in the Harbor. Ripley County Crop Walk for Hunger
The Ripley County Annual 10K (6 mile) Crop Walk Ending Hunger one step at a time will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Milan. Registration time is 12:30 p.m. at Milan First Baptist Church. Ripley County Amateur Radio Club
The Ripley County Amateur Radio Club meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the American Red Cross office located at 629 South Buckeye Street in Osgood. For more information, call Delbert Felix at 812-756-2470.

Back Door Friends in Faith distribution
Back Door Friends in Faith is an outreach program of Tyson United Methodist Church. On the third Saturday of each month, residents from the South Ripley and Jac-Cen-Del school districts are invited to come and receive needed household items that cannot be obtained through the food stamp program. First time participants must bring a photo ID and proof of address. All items are free. Anyone wishing to donate items for distribution can drop off donations at the Annex, 107 N. Adams St. in Versailles, or on the parsonage front porch located at 322 Tyson St. in Versailles. For more information, call 812-689-6976.

Ripley County Food Pantry
The Ripley County Food Pantry located at the Ripley Co. Fairground, Bldg. 16C, in Osgood, will be open on the third Monday of each month from 9-12 a.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. The mobile pantry will be open on the first Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the fairgrounds in Osgood. Dinner club for widows

Book Club at the Osgood Public Library
The Book Club meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Osgood Public Library at 6 p.m. Please call the library at 689-4011 for information on the book to be discussed at the next meeting and to reserve a copy. Newcomers are always welcome, even if you have not read the book.

La Leche League (breast-feeding support)
